So having the ability to indefinitely fly in Metroid games (and as two bosses in Brawl) is a reasoning that he can't be a playable character in Smash Brothers? That makes absolutely zero sense whatsoever and it's not like Sakurai's thinking "If we add Ridley, we absolutely have to allow him to always fly (or have the ability to stay up in the air for as long as the player wants to), no matter how broken that could be". There's also a thing called resizing so that Master Hand point is indeed flawed (See below: links) just as much as your flying point.
Smash Brothers isn't canon and it doesn't have to be "on the dot" consistent to the franchises it incorporates into the mix. Ridley suddenly shrinking several feet to be playable isn't blasphemy. If it is, Olimar needs cut for suddenly growing from the size of a speck of bread to around half Mario's height because by this "Too big" logic, let's just cut Olimar since he's "too small". You sure can't resize a character (or characters, including the Pikmin) because that's a crime.
Let me remind you of something too. Smash Brothers ever since Melee to Brawl (and I don't see it changing for SSB4 either) has been about trophies of characters coming to life and duking it out. Is Ridley's
trophy too big to be playable? If you think so, sorry but that's funny for all the wrong reasons.
I'm not going farther then that with this discussion (past this post). Reasoning is I've participated in dozens (of discussions or arguments) on other sites concerning Ridley in Smash Brothers as a playable character and really, it's old and dull for the reasonings people repeatedly give that Ridley shouldn't be playable. I just brought it up because he is someone I'd love to finally be on the roster.
Edit: I'll leave you these:
click (Ridley could stand 1 to 2 feet taller then Samus then he is in this image at most if you feel he needs to be taller/bigger but no more then that really.) Credit to Angelglory of SmashBoards.
