I should have something witty to put here (even if it's just to update dated info), shouldn't I?

Blatant joke hacks that serve no purpose but to waste everyone's time. No, I didn't even play them myself.

You want screens? Well too bad, you're not getting them! In fact, this mod log only exists because out of necessity for how the moderation system works. All three hacks have been condensed into one thread because one is more than enough.

I'm actually wondering, will joke hacks be accepted on the new system?

I don't think they're a waste, they're just fun in different ways. :/
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?
No one even needed to play those three romhacks to reject them because the screenshots and the descriptions just gave it all away. If I did actually play them, I probably would have just yelled while playing the whole way through.

About joke hacks, while some can be funny (it would be nice to see some more of those), those ones weren't cutting it.

There is/was some talk of it, but most signs point to no.

Of note that "l4rry'5 cr4zy h4ck" is the same as this rejected hack, just with an edited Nintendo Presents screen.

I think a lot of the problem with "joke hacks" is that "joke" has come to be interpreted as "intentionally bad", resulting in something that people not only don't put effort in, but think they're not supposed to put effort in. Most of them don't seem any better than the failed first hacks they imitate. (Some of them actually are those hacks, with the author claiming they're a joke for attention or something.)

Instead, I think the goal should be overall to be entertaining-- same as with nearly any game for that matter. If you're breaking standards, there's an additional issue of having to make fun what might typically be annoying, which quite possibly takes more effort than creating typical Mario-style levels.

Because of that confusion, I tend to avoid the term "joke hack" myself lately-- although I originally intended to create one, ZGC turned out more as a satire of sorts, trying to bring attention to the problems I saw in the SMW hacks of the time (particularly the excessive focus on avoiding cutoff and removing traces of the original SMW, and the lack of focus on level design quality), by showing that something almost the complete opposite can be arguably more fun to play. I think it succeeded as much as it could have, though several levels (such as part of world 3, most of world 5, and the second half of the red switch level) aren't as interesting as I'd like.
