Hi there, esteemed word reader! If you are feasting your eyes on these words, then you have most surely have clicked on this C3 thread and started taking a look! I would like to extend my utmost congratulat- oh, I meant my utmost appreciation. Heh, I’m not that egotistic! Well, maybe. Just maybe.
But in all seriousness, thank you for clicking on my C3 thread! It’s only through your help that this thread will survive, and I hope that you will like what I have to offer you. Music. Remixes. 100% free of the letter six.
This originally started as a way to pass the time, but then I slowly became aware of the fact that I was improving. Considerably. Cut to now, and I have in and around 16 songs to show off at this C3. Go me.
All songs are in .mid file format, made using anvil studio. Your computer’s pre-installed music player should run these just fine.
Download the albumhere, along with small notes on each track, and even a couple of bonus tracks as well!...or click em solo if it toots your fancy. That's fine. I won't kill you. Perhaps.
Most of the songs were average, they didn't stand out as well as other variations I've heard. They aren't terrible, but they could be better. I find the biggest weakness is a lack of melody in a few of the tracks. But then again, it's not easy judging a midi alone for it's musical quality.
-------------------- I no longer have interest in SMW Hacking as I did when I first started several years ago.
Hey, neat stuff. I like how you're trying to maintain the feel of the original songs while making slight variations with the instrument choices and composition.
For Calm Before the Storm, the instrument you chose for the last segment is a little strong, and feels like it's fighting a bit with the serene quality the original had. Maybe something more subdued would be better?
Memories of the Lost Army is pretty nice. My only recommendation there is to maybe vary the percussion a little, because the strong echoing beat at the end of each measure can get just a little repetitive after a while.
I have a feeling I've heard Seventy Two Hours Remain before in another thread, but it's one of my favorite of the bunch, so good work! The Resistance was pretty enjoyable, too. Sounds like you've been improving a great deal since you first started. Keep it up (:
Oh, and Wind Tower fits its environment pretty well; don't be afraid to try more original pieces here and there, too!
Sorry that it isn't your cup of tea Tomphanto. At least you don't think i'm terrible. Thanks for the post, anyhow.
Calm before the storm was an earlier piece, when i wasn't that great, honestly. I'm not really that jazzed about going back and working on older remixes, but if i ever redo that song i'll be sure to keep that in mind.
You know, the one thing i almost never touch in my remixes is the percussion. Except for maybe one, that's the one channel i leave the same. Maybe i should start messing around with it...?
Seventy-Hours remain was shown off in the music showoff thread in the art forum. You commented on it i believe.
The Resistance was actually a turning point, when i went and said "hey, this isn't half-bad". Glad you liked it as much as i did.
Also glad you commented on Wind Tower, because that's the one i was hoping for feedback on the most. Maybe i should start doing more custom stuff.
Thanks again everyone! (read: and by everyone i mean the two people who posted. I am the best C3er ever.)
