Super Mario: Quest for the Sacred Stone

Finally back into making SMW hacks! \o/

Anyway, my new one is called 'Quest for the Sacred Stone'. There is no real plot yet, but it is something to do with a 'sacred stone'. I've been spending my time making the first level. World 1 OW isn't finished, but screenshots anyway.

Changed the pallete, want to make the grass a bit more brownish. (But not too brownish)

I have a video for the first level, Acorn Plains:
Click me to watch Acorn Plains!

I didn't show off two little areas however. And I enabled sprite buoyancy.

Some bonus area. Huh. In that turn block is an extra life.

Place with coins and one dragon coin.

Sprite buoyancy fix lel \o/

Note I haven't done SMW hacking in a long while (though I have been making custom SMW music and custom sprites), so I didn't really know what was the problem when the fish was derping around in the water XD.

Off to an okay start compared to my first hack.
That's it for now!

Ok. I don't wan't to be mean, But there's quite some errors to fix:

The OW looks plain and boring, Add some decoration to it to make it attractive.

The level itself is alright, but problems await! Let's mark them out! Shall we?

On the second picture, There's no actual puzzle to make the player pass through.

Second image, I don't have anything against this one but the pipe, Only change it's palette.

Third image, There really isn't nothing much to say about this one, Since it's almost like the OW.

I hope that you can fix this.
Decoration seems to be the problem here. Try to make the overworld and the level more attractive. I will have to see more to comment on the actual level design but it seems a bit bland in areas.

Yeah I'm not working on the OW right now, later I'll finish it.
For the image with the pipe, I'll change the palette.
Thanks for the advice!

My level is dangerously close to 1000 bytes. I tried to fit in decoration but there isn't enough space.

It looks good so far. Keep it up!
Try my Kaizo hack!

I am a Bug Tester, Play Tester, and Proofreader.

Will accept other hacks.

Currently Testing: Nothing!

PM me if you want your hack tested.
I've changed up Acorn Plains a bit. New Video. New palette, bit more decoration, and new music.

I've also finished the second level, Mystic Mines:
Mystic Mines (Normal Exit)

Also this hack is a collaboration hack, I'm collaborating with the SMWC user Pixels.

New Title Screen:

There is no level, I'll make it soon, don't post about it. I swear.

New Overworld:

A bit o' progress with the overworld. Still not complete, though.

That's all for now.
yes
Lemme see...

Acorn Plains does look good so far for a first level, and there's nothing that affects the level design heavily. Have you inserted this blocks so odds are you can't get inside the ledge at 0:37? It's not that much of a problem, though.

The cave level also looks good. I didn't find any issues in it, though. The letters of the title screen are also cool.

The submap looks much better than before. There is only one error in that section with the yellow level dot, where the ledge meets the grass. I'd suggest putting something that fits with it, but since it's only a minor issue with the submap, you can keep it.

So yeah, you two are doing a good job so far. Also, don't worry about putting decoration in it, just don't put more decoration than what is needed there. Good luck with this hack, and can't wait for what more you still have to show! #ab{:D}
Okay, finished working on the third level, Lakitu Mountains. Before that, quick OW update: (STILL not finished though...)

Now for the level:

Trying to make a good sky gradient. Still failing.

Near the beginning the path splits into to and joins into one. The top path leads to a Yoshi Coin.

The Lakitu is a spy!
Really, the level is about lakitus hiding everywhere.

P-Switch needed to use the spring ahead.
Note: Watch out for lakitus

There is a trick to getting this Yoshi coin. Let the goomba regain consciousness on the munchers and bounce off of him to get the Yoshi coin. Or you could do it the risky way.

Rest of the images:

I don't see nothing bad in the level, based on screen it looks cool.

The map: Better than before but If you could make the under parts like the up parts with little ledges or so. It would look cool.

But you are improving time by time so I like that!
