YOLOshi's Island (back from the dead)

Hack

Also, in the second screenshot does Yoshi take an exit into that position? If so I'd make a closed door there or something. I don't know I just think it helps the level feel a little more natural if there is an indication of where you came from.

Wouldn't a closed door just move along with the sewage? I could have an entrance from above and see if it wouldn't change anything.

That last screenshot though... I get that its supposed to be unfairly hard and all but unless someone specifically knew about the mechanics behind exits in Yoshi's Island I don't think they would even begin to know what to do there.

There will be a message box explaining that. The question is, how to explain it.

I think I'm almost done with Sisyphus Hill so I might as well show some of Burt the Butthurt's Fort now.

Arrangement of Burt the Bashful's Fort but way more lethal.

Ride him through the Chokey.

I like this update so far, especially Burt the Butthurt's Fort. If I may give you a suggestion, you could fill the floor with some switch blocks on the first screenshot as a way to rush the player to push the Chomp Rock as fast as possible before the timer runs out, but I don't know, do what you think is fitting for the level.
Instead of releasing a 4 level demo, I'm thinking I'll release a 2 level demo for now and kinda make this sort of an episodic game like C|C so you don't have to wait till I make more substantial progress to experience it, and if there are any problems I can (hopefully) sort them out as I go rather than scrambling to find and fix them after making all the stages.

Very nice level, I'm looking forward to the next level.
Good Job !
After rewatching the other levels of this hack and remembering how fresh it felt, I kinda felt in the mood to resume it (even tho it's a Kaizo hard, I think being different enough from SMW somehow makes it enjoyable, plus aside from some flutter jumping segments, not really as much precision as my SMW hacks).
Quick recap

Stage 4, Burt the Butthurt's Fort, which I think is nearly finished by now.

I don't want Yoshi to have any eggs by this point.

Don't let him see you!

Yoshi's butthurt, literally.

And yes, I still remember things I had in mind for future stages.

I'm kinda wavering on my satisfaction with how stage 4 went because it feels kinda short to me, and that one comment about not liking the forced death on the Burt boss. I don't think I'll worry about that immediately tho.

Name to run away from really fast. Actually having fun making this one.

In between those colored blocks (or anytime there's a colored concrete gate like that) is a horizontal entrance sprite that leads to a death room, and since it's a sprite (like the morph bubbles) that necessitates baby Mario riding on Yoshi in order to interact with it you'll have to get hit and get him back when you get to the other side, making it sorta like a Yoshi's Island version of Tubular 2 from C|C.

Very cool you're working on this again Soko, I remember have watched those videos years ago, it's undeniable you know how to make good kaizo levels, not only on SMW. Really hope you finish it!

this looks p dope so far, p.s. use my 6 keys patch ;)
Now I'm kinda starting to ponder the idea of seeing if I can keep the general level ideas while remaking it as something that could conceivably be done tool-less, since I've just about had it with precise and slowed down flutter jumps, and YI smv files appear to be more likely to desync than in SMW if I have to change something.
