AMAZING DISCOVERY REGARDING

So in an IRC discussion, I'm fairly certain I've cracked the enigma code. The one question on EVERYBODY'S MIND ever since the dawn of Super Mario Bros...

Just where do Lakitus keep all those Spiny dudes?

The answer is simple: Spiny are actually Lakitus in a larval form. Lakitus are genderless and asexual and their reproductive rate is around the same rate as ants. Lakitus fly over the enemy, birthing their larva and then throw them within the near vicinity of the enemy. SPINIES ARE NOTHING MORE THAN YOUNG LAKITU.

Following their birth, if a Spiny survives the wrath of the enemy, it will eventually sprout into a full blown Lakitu. If a Spiny falls into a pit, once it matures, it will form a cloud much like the one it's parent has. The cloud is a gland. This is why it can only be harvested from the Lakitu via certain methods. Thus the cycle of life repeats.

You are now all educated in the biology and life cycle of a Lakitu, however we still need to make a comprehensive guide on all creatures of the Mushroom Kingdom. Post your discoveries and let us create an ENCYCLOPAEDIA!

Lakitus sure are cruel creatures... throwing their babys out right after birth like trash.
So, where do the pipe dwelling Lakitus come from? And why do spinys loose their carapace when growing up, where as it provides perfect protection from Marios deadly feet?

... what even am I doing with my life?
Pipe dwelling Lakitus are old ones whose cloud gland has shrivelled with age. They climb into pipes to provide them with some shelter after this has happened.

But I have no idea why spinys lose their carapace when growing up.
Usually inactive/procrastinating on a hack idea.
It's to protect the larva while it's still growing, small and unable to fly. It's like asking why a butterfly loses it's cocoon. Is it not obvious?

It is now you've pointed it out lol.

I 100% seriously always assumed spinies were baby lakitu. It only just now occurred to me that they may not be.
I was seriously trying to think of things that would make this theory invalid for shits and giggles, but it's just too perfect for loopholes.

you can stomp lakitu but not spiny
And why can't Lakitus throw spinies while fishing Marios with 1Ups?
And why don't they give birth on a track(in Mario Kart)?

Well, then maybe Goombas always fall down pits because they're always staring at US. (SMB1)

That's ridiculous, there's no way they would be able to give birth more than once, the first spiny would just tear through the uterus like tissue paper.

@ergazoobi-
Spikes at birth? Besides:
1. That must hurt.
2. They do the same thing in pipes.
So does that mean that a Goomba was inspired by a dick?
