Tip: Bad things to do in the title demo: Enter a door or a pipe, activate a P-switch or a star, complete the level, hit a message block, or die. These will either glitch the music, or force the player into an endlessly looping title level until they reset the game.Not logged in.
Stretched Textures Fix

I decided to create a new thread to give more visibility to my program which could be very useful to anyone using SketchUp for modelling SM64 levels and is experiencing the annoying problem of the stretched textures. The program provides a simple and fast solution to that problem.

Before and after:

Instructions:
Just drag your level .obj file into the executable to generate a new .obj to be used with the importer.

Specifications:
- Up to 20000 triangles and to 100 textures
- Don't use more than 50 characters for material/textures names

Download (for Windows)
Kinopio, you are a f#smw{x_x}king genius lol

Thankyou thankyou THANKYOU #w{<3}

I thought I would have to limit my models for a second, but now that it supports 20,000 polygons, there won't be anymore problems for me. Thanks again #ab{:D}

Well, I'm glad you have appreciated it!
How do you make those grates on your model? I can't find the answer anywhere...
you mean the texture?

to make it I cropped the inner parts between the wires and I made them full transparent.

you can find the original file here

Is there one of those for fences?
I have these two fences textures with transparency:

Why is my fence upside down?!? How do I fix that? #smw{T_T}
You are using the object exporter plugin for sketchup right? If it's your case, it's not only the fence that is upside down but all the textures of the level. To make them look right, just check the "vertically flip texture" checkbox in the "Import Setting" tab of the level importer.
THANKS SO MUCH!!!#smw{:peace:}
I really don't want to say this... but I used your executable long ago, it worked great, but for some reason now my textures still go wonky...
You can see what I'm talking about in my progress thread for my hack.

It doesn't seem that your textures have stretching problem, could it be that you used the triangulate plugin before exporting? It should never be used. It only messes up all textures and it has no use since the exporter does triangulation by itself.

for my executable to work you have to export your model with the sketchup pro default exporter (not the plugin).

file > export > 3d model

select OBJ file in the menu and then click on option.
Check the following boxes:
- triangulate all faces
- export texture maps
- swap YZ coordinates

you can left all the other boxes unchecked.
Thanks, but is there any way to make textures NOT screwed up with ORIGINAL sketchup? Or do I absolutely HAVE to get sketchup pro?
no, as far as I know... otherwise I wouldn't have spent time writing a program to fix the problem :P

however you can still get better results simply by exporting without using the triangulate plugin, even if your are using the free version of sketchup. ;)
Thanks again, i'll try and see how it works
I have sketchup pro, and I did exactly as you said, I used your executable, some textures were still messed up.

maybe they are too small, try to scale them up.

edit: another possible cause could be that you used textures with sizes different from 32x32 or 32x64
can you please update this to 30,000 polygons?#smw{:TUP:}
