Masterlink's SPC Thread v2 [New port from Final Fantasy 7]

Here's something I made a week or two ago in request:

Super Mario RPG - Battle Against Culex

It was a good thing I made a midi of it almost a year ago, so the porting process was faster than normal. I might, might not, release it here; it depends on the guy who requested it.

Sounds pretty much like the original, nice job. :D

Thanks ggamer! That was what I was going for, haha.

Felt like doing something unsampled. It was actually very fun to make, and exactly what I needed to relax tonight. It's far from perfect though, especially because of the 'cymbal'.
Golden Sun - Isaac's Battle Theme

I always wanted to port this, but couldn't because of not finding the correct samples for the sawtooth (since the original sawtooth was generated by the engine, it was impossible to rip). I used XG's 'Big Lead' and it kinda worked.

Also, I never liked how in the original the pan flute part only plays once, so I used a different loop point to include it.

Wow, this is amazing. :o
Even though I've never heard too much of it before. Good job.

Thanks!

I was going to release this one in the C3, but I had an extremely limited access to the internet, so yeah...

Pokémon R/S/E - Verdanturf Town

This time I used only SNES samples, hooray.

Because of the high echo and the samples, it's currently impossible to use in a hack. I probably won't make it SMW compatible because I don't want to lower the quality, no one would use it anyway.

Video form, if you prefer.
I wanted to upload something to my channel, that's all.

Oh, also this too:

I never did beat him back in 1995 before I sold my gb collection.

Nice port though.

It is. I ported the remixed version from the game's remake on the DS (though I cut the end because I don't feel it fits).

Link.

Also, thanks.
Clash on the Big Bridge is awesome! It's practically identical to the FFV version. An amazing port!
Your layout is on vacation.
Wow, I love your Verdanturf Town Port! #w{=D} Very beautiful!

If I had to say something negative, I would mention the last part (starts at ~0:23). It does not sound as good as the rest, maybe the bass is the reason.

But anyways, a great port! #w{=P}
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow - Castle Corridor
Original, for reference

I always wanted to port this with all the original samples, but couldn't because of many reasons, however, in the past three days I've been working on this and I'm satisfied with how it came out despite not being 100% accurate. The Toms might change though, since the original used 4 different samples for them and I could only fit one in to the ARAM. Currently thinking about replacing the sample with a better one from an SNES game or making small versions of the originals.

Also, thanks guys #ab{:)}

Dude this is incredible! If I were you I would def play around with the original samples and try playing around with their sizes until you can make them fit in ARAM. Sure you lose quality but I'm sure with your talent that you can make it work decently, if not superb! Nice job, and even when you don't think this is 100%, I feel the only thing not "100%" about it is jx the samples that you couldn't put, you got most, if not all, notes spot on from what I heard #tb{:j}. Idk if anything was slightly out of tune or anything that I can nitpick since I don't have my earbuds but it sounded well coming outta my speakers.
Major thanks to Suika Ibuki for layout!

Thanks LadiesMan!

Mega Man & Bass - Museum [Download]

This was very fun to port, despite SMW lacking the
delicious
Square Wave sample of the original.

I'll release my other ports in the music section soon when I finish fixing stuff in them for public use, if anyone is interested in getting them for some reason.

This sounds very pleasing. I like what you were able to accomplish with SMW's samples alone. I can't really detect the pannings in the original sound all I did was look at a youtube vid of the song, but I get a feeling there should be at least some slight panning. I like how you made the @1 chords sound like pianos. Another thing I really like was how you put the whole percussion set into one channel and it sounds like multiple channels (sorta like how Stickerbush Symphony did). That's really cool man. The only thing I feel is like the song could use some panning but no more futher than y8 and y12, but that's jx my 2 cents. Great work ^^.

Masterlink, your port from Megaman & Bass is cool, but need to improve a bit this port.
Could you make this port sampled with the samples from the original game?
@LadiesMan: Thanks man! I actually considered adding some panning, but the original had every channel in the middle except for the pseudo-echo one, so I decided to leave it like that in my port too.

@Roberto: Probably not gonna happen. I mean, I could add samples if I really wanted to, but the point of making this port was to see if I could make it sound decent with SMW samples. Also, I don't really consider adding samples to an unsampled port an improvement, but eh.
Hey, that sounds pretty good. I listened to that in the music queue a couple days ago. I do think the square, synth brass (around 0:52), and possibly snare could be stronger, but it's a good port overall.

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here. Progress: 64/95 levels.
Donkey Kong Country 2 - Boss Bossanova

Ported this a couple days ago for fun and because it's my favorite boss theme from the DKC saga. Also thanks, imamelia!
Oh, very very nice. I really like the way this sounds. Great going Gardev- er, Masterlink!
