Here we got a traditional ghost house level with two exits (can you find them both?)
And are we allowed to use music remixes in our levels, if we credit the author?

I'm definitely liking this level. You made great use of the level wrap and it definitely shows. I say you've succeeded in trying to emulate the original ghost house feel.

I guess Monstrous Turtles fits the level (I never really liked the song that much, so that might just be personal bias speaking). However, you should turn down the volume a bit as for much of the song the volume of the song overpowers nearly every sound in the game.

Also, I think you should add at least one more power up to the level. I think there's only a single power up. (Unless I missed another one or something).

Anywhoever, some other things I want to mention.


There should definitely be a roof in this room, since I can...


Jump over the wall and fall to my death.

**BTW The reason I have a reserve mushroom is because I purposely gave myself one. I was trying to find any exploits in the level and forgot to turn on god mode, so I gave myself a bunch of mushrooms.


I can make the same thing happen here. Except what's worse is...




I come down with a severe case of Stuck-forever-itis. I know adding a roof will only make the jump from the vine to the one door incredibly annoying, so I suggest creating a better layout for that small area.


One last thing. As seen in the photo, there's no blocks outside of the level boundaries, all may seem fine, but with the level wrap on...



The player can actually slip through a hole in the roof fly into an area where you're not supposed to be, (also you can get stuck forever in there too).

Now there's no spots like this where the level can completely broken. (And you'd also have to bring a leaf in to pull this off) But I still suggest fixing it by adding one block to the roof and floor outside of the boundaries for each side of the room.

Believe it or not, this stops Mario from being able to fly up and escape.

BTW I got a good giggle out of the door popping out of the item box when getting the secret exit. Idk I just get a laugh at funny little things like that.

Thanks for finding all(?) of the loopholes in my level.
I've added some roofs to the level and added an extra power up.
I've also changed the mp3 of Monstrous Turtles, the file size is smaller now, but it's just as loud as before (I think). I'll change the volume later, once I figure out how to do that.

You can change the volume of the music with Audacity. But you will have to know how to use it.

If you don't already have some kind of music editor, Audacity (it's free) is the way to go, as DPBOX said. You're also going to need LAME, software which will let you export Audacity files as MP3's (which are required for SMBX).

Going to Effects -> Amplify let's you change the volume.

And when you're finished, make sure you export (File -> Export) your file as an MP3.
