In my opinion, I think this song is ready to go! Very very good job, as always LadiesMan217. I knew you were going to be a great user when I first saw you on the forums. I do hope everybody's been nice to you so far.

Can not wait to see what you post next. When you do "SMB3 Bowser's World Map", try to give it the "Umph" that all the others ports of it lack. You were able to do it with the cave song and the airship, I know you can do it here too! #tb{:j} Good luck!

Alright, I think this is pretty much done. I took Izuna's advice and rose the octave on the vibraphone on channel 4 and it sounds better. i thought raising would made it sound too sparkly but I didn't have headphones at the time but now I'm borrowing some and it sounds good! I'm trying to keep each instrument's volume and panning right to the original song so even though some things don't sound audible, you can hear them and it gives the song a little texture, smooth like, the percussion isn't meant to be out there for a beat, it's jx there for texture from what I can perceive and Koji is brilliant for that! I found the game's kick for this song and changed it from the last one (last one was some synth bass). I would lower the bass as well but with the limited instruments I can put, it'd make the song sound too empty so I slightly lowered it but you can still here it for the song's rhythm.

Omg, I don't think Ima do a soundtrack for this, this is a big responsibility and a lot of dedication. Guys, tbh I think I may have ADD, I can never stay focused on one project for too long because I wanna port everything! This makes it especially difficult to fulfill requests XD. This SMAS Soundtrack is gonna be a long ride for me... UUGGHHHHH!!!!

Tbh I never thought I'd do anything productive to contribute for the community, much less actually be porting music! This means so much, thank you and yes, this community has been kind and patient with me, especially when I was whining for help (thanks guys).

Airship and Dark Land... WAMO! Like this? And to those who have been here since the SMAS Soundtrack, yes, I jx redid these right now because the last ones were inaccurate.

Wow!!!! The quality NSMW Overworld sounds amazing, I don't think you can get much closer than that! Also Airship and Dark Land sound perfect, but didn't either one of those songs have panning? Maybe not, but I was wondering.

Hey thanks! And also no, neither have pannings if I remember looking at the SPC700 Player correctly.

Derp on my part guys, I'm not porting NSMB Wii music, it's NSMB XD. I think that might have been throwing some people off on the overwolrd port since the overworld in the Wii is a bit different with different instruments. BUT ANYWAYS! This is my final take on the NSMB - Overworld theme and how I plan to submit it. Enjoy the listen as you guys wait muahahahaha!!! Also, here's a sneak peak of the next NSMB song Ima port. If I'm thinking jx right, I'm pretty sure everyone is waiting to hear that 8-bit solo at 0:52 (that's actually the very first part I finished on it and it sounds amazing!!!).

You mean "sneak peek". And why do you always abbreviate "just" as "jx"?

In any case, the ports sound pretty good so far (though unsampled versions would be nice...). I don't see too many NSMB ports, I guess because of lack of MIDIs and lack of soundtrack diversity.

Oops #tb{'_'}, oh and about the weird abbreviation, it's jx something I made up when I was little? Idk, but it's a thing unique to me I guess and I only start using my weird abbreviations when I talk to my friends, and I'm kinda getting laid back with the community bc I'm legit starting to see you guys as friends. Everyone here has been nice to me and yeah. If it bothers you, I will gladly stop, I didn't mean to annoy.

Hey thank you on that! Hhmmm, I'm not sure why either there ain't that many NSMB ports but I kinda like it bc I'm not redoing works already done X).

I know this is early for another port to show off but on the music request thread someone mentioned that someone should try porting the NSMB star theme and well, here's my take on it. I'm trying to go for accuracy and I hit all the notes, it's jx instruments I'm having a hard time looking for, so for the ones I can't find I jx make my own samples.

EDIT: I made an alternate version. Which one sounds better?

I like the alternate version more, it sounds a bit better to me. Anyways, getting here from the Music Request thread, I can say I am very happy about this song! Question though? How do I use this as the invincibility theme in my hack? I don't think it'd be simple, considering it's sampled and I may have some levels with unsampled music or different samples.
Sometimes, I like to hack SMW. This is rare though, but I always try something new.

Why thank you good sir for the kind words! Yeah, it shouldn't be too hard but can get a little confusing when combining the samples groups. I'll guide you through it once I prepare it and send it to you.

After some tinkering I think I'm now happy with the Starman theme. I love the pannings in this game and how the percussion is jx right, not too loud but not too quiet, it's jx right. Also I'm pleased to show off the NSMB Athletic theme. I've been having some trouble with this because during the funky trumpet part in channel 5, the song slows down a bit bc of the many things happening at the same time, specifically right before the 8-bit solo (also I can't wait for you guys to hear that 8-bit solo!!!), but it shouldn't be too much of a big deal that it hurts the song too much. As always, feedback is GREATLY appreciated but by no means required. Enjoy ^^

Are you by chance going to port another soundtrack LadiesMan? If so, I Knight thee... Sir Soundwave!

This athletic theme is very pleasing to listen to, even more so than the source material in my opinion. How is it that you do so well? The 8-Bit solo was definitely worth the listen to, so excellent job. Really loving what you have so far... wait, I already said that? What are you talking about!?! Okay, different commenting method... can't think of won; because that's exactly what this song is! (snicker)
It's pure win.

I need to take lessons from you in porting soon, you jumped the gun REALLY quickly and become somebody one had better think twice before trifling with. Want to know why? Your porting skills blow them away with Soundwaves, Sir Soundwave.

Are you planning on porting soon?????? I coulda sworn I saw you port some stuff before I signed up.

I have another old port to show off, and this time, I'm finally done with it in my opinion. It's Yoshi's Story On the Beach. Gotta love OpenMPT when making your own samples! Especially when samples don't exist yet (brr).

Guys, remember this last Zelda port I did? I'm wanting to release it but I made an alternate one and I don't know which one sounds better. The first one if need be I can add extra piano samples to cover the actual range (I believe I need 4 in total, this one only had 2). I made electric grand piano samples. The alternate uses acoustic bright piano samples I made and only one seems to cover the range of the song pretty well. The first sounds spooky and almost halloweenish to me (bc the piano sounds like a harpsichord) while the alternate feels more of lost in a hopeless castle. Which do you guys prefer and please try giving me feedback this time instead of ignoring (I don't mind ignoring normally bc I've gotten use to it by now, but this I'd REALLY appreciate).

WARNING, STUPID NONSENSE AHEAD
Meanwhile as you guys respond to that, what do you guys think of the Yoshi's Story port? I work my butt off finding and creating these samples, but I enjoy the results nonetheless. Am I worth this community's time? Or should I jx stop on these Soundtracks and not port bc I don't get the feedback I used to when I first started (and those ports were horrible omg eewww). I'm sorry for the whing, I'm actually 3 years old XD. Eh, that's okies, if I don't get anymore feedback I guess I'll jx start posting in the music showoff thread again... ah jx like old times X).

I can relate to you as far as comments go; sometimes I post back to back with barely any feedback on my own stuff. I don't usually talk much about it unless somebody else brings up said point, like you just did.

This feeling your have definitely brings up demotivation. I would love to say that you're an excellent addition to the Userbase, but I'm just one person. -_- Personal threads themselves don't get a lot of attention for some ungodly reason; with such an active community, you'd expect to get something more for posts.

If you're looking for comments on your stuff, I would suggest showing off in the public thread and then re-posting it here after a week. (due expect less results in this thread though)

As far as Face Shrine goes, the original one you did sounds better. I've never done samples, so I wouldn't know what kind of trouble that is.

The steel drums I used are apparently the one the the N64 used (so a post I saw says), that's why a made a sample out of those. Funny story, I once showed this song to one of my teachers at school once a year ago and his friend was like, [says my name] I love but please that's driving me nuts. Those steel drums weren't pleasant to his ears :/. I'll include a version with the @7's for those who prefer that version.

I guess the community either already expects me to to do stuff like this so it's nothing new anymore and it's like, "eh, whatever" or people simply don't have anything to say #tb{¬_¬}.

I'll put both versions in, jx like how Lui37 put 2 versions of the NSMB Castle port in his submission #tb{:j}.

Alright, so I made another Ocarina of Time port, Kakariko Village. This is an arrangement made by someone who requested it from me. I want to submit it bc I really loved how it turned out but I have to ask him first, so I'm awaiting his reply.

I was expecting something like the OoT version, but I didn't see "arrangement", oh well. Liking the way it sounds

Channels 0, 1 and 7 needs to have their volume lowered, it kind of hurts my ears to listen to, especially 0.
Warning: Big post ahead.

If you think you're alone on the lack of feedback, let me tell you that you're very mistaken; not much people frequent this forum, and almost every personal thread is ignored except for one or two people that occasionally post in them, and yours isn't as ignored as you think, most likely because you port music from well-known games. I personally don't really care about the lack of feedback anymore; it's just one of those things you can't do anything about. The thing is, these threads are ignored because "normal" people don't frequent this forum unless they asked for help and are waiting for a response. I've been wanting to give feedback to you, but I feel like people that don't know much about porting will take it as rude (last year's first C3 is an example), and I don't want others disregarding what I said just because of that.

Anyway, I just can't leave with just what I said, so I'm gonna comment on some of your ports.

Most of what Harumi said here still applies, mostly the vibraphone and kick being detuned. It sounds better than before, but it can still be improved a lot. Aside from what the post I linked said, the percussion sounds a bit out of sync, so you might want to look at that, and the bass is too quiet if you compare it with the original. Keep at it though, it's coming along nicely! Also, as a suggestion, perhaps you can use Terranigma's trumpet (sample 0F at 0:20) instead? It sounds closer to the original.

I really like this for the most part, but that random low note on the last channel sounds out of place. Not sure what it was supposed to be, but you should take it out or raise its octave. Everything else is pretty good though.

This one is amazing, I have to say! You did an awesome job, and I can't really find anything bad in it.

I have to agree with MercuryPenny on this one; there's something weird about that steel drum sample, and SMW's @7 sounded good on the last version, so yeah, it'll be nice if you include both versions when you release it. Also, those very short notes on the guitar are, well, very short, and they don't let the sample play at all. You can fix this with either rest-replacing GAIN or by simply using slightly longer notes. If you want to know how to use remote commands for GAIN, feel free to PM me and I'll send you the instructions.

Yeah, this alternate version is a lot better than the first one, however, the strings sound very detuned, and the high French Horn doesn't really fit with the song. I like the piano though; it isn't as bad as I expected, since you said you only used one sample.

That's an interesting arrangement, and I like it, but I agree with Scorpion; the banjo is too loud. Also, I feel the vibraphone should be transposed because it doesn't fit with the other channels, but I don't know what MIDI you used to port this, so I can't give you any more details; sorry about that.

Oh, by the way, you might want to use $F4 $02 on your pots a bit more, as it helps to make them sound better and smoother. I personally consider it a must use nowadays, so give it a try!

Edit: Goddamn it, typos everywhere...

Alright so about the NSMB Overworld port, what's the percussion everyone keeps talking about, the kick isn't even audible unless listened to with headphones. I'm using the actual game's in-game sequences/MIDI's to do what I'm doing (ripped by Luigifan64). I wish I had the game's samples, but NSMB Wii does contain some of the DS's samples and that's where I got the vibraphone and kick. Should I jx replace the kick channel with the tambourine instead since it's more audible? Also I tried the trumpets you suggested and while they are more closer to the actual ones, they're a bit too strong I think. What ADSR do you recommend me? This trumpet however fits WAY MORE nicely for Athletic (since it's the sample that's replaced). I fixed the other issues with the other songs and will post them later. Also yes, I would love a PM from you on how to use the remote commands for GAIN! And lastly:

Man, most of your songs are nice. I like how you're trying to port modern songs, they're so rare today and even more sampled. I think you're one of who get more feedback here, so you should be happy that you're doing everyone's wishes here.

The only thing I'd like to complain, aside from Masterlink said, is that it sounds a bit empty sometimes, it's missing a percussion that is played all time, which fills all emptyness of the song. There is no problem if you interrupt when all 8 channels are active, since when all of them are active your port is filled enough with other type of percussion. Of course I'm not specialist so if anyone experienced with porting see that I'm saying something wrong go ahead and correct me. But it's what I'm feeling about the port. Also please do something with the #3 that plays around 0:26, it's completely detuned as Harumi and Masterlink says. Even if it's something that is just 1% of your port it can completely destroy the sound quality of the port was doing so far.

Also, in name of CreeperJrs, please stop deleting the old ports! Some people like me only visits the music forum sometimes and when I visited your thread 50% of the ports were deleted. Get a public folder on Dropbox if you're getting out of space on file bin.

Got quite a bit of updates on the NSMB songs I've ported. First off, the Overworld theme. Changes made from it's predecessor: Found out that the percussion on channel 5 after the first timbale play was a 16th of a note behind. Thank you so much Izuna and Masterlink for constantly "nagging" on that. I kept listening to it over and over and over again and finally looked at the game's MIDI and compared it to the one I did and found out I got the whole channel a 16th of a note behind *derp*. Also on said channel, I listened more closely to the song and heard stick/woodblocks rather than bongos followed by 2 bongo notes before the pattern loops again so I incorporated that (hopefully that channels sounds more fateful to the original). I also tuned the vibraphones, hopefully they're tuned better now and I lowered the solo vibraphone on channel 4 by 1 octave since in the original song it's not high at hope (again, hopefully with the retune, it sounds better). Last but not least, the drum percussion. Looking at the game's MIDI and listening closer to the song, I saw and heard that ever so faint snare on the third beat of the kick. I made 2 samples, a solo kick, and one with the snare and kick playing at once and put those in. I also redid some volume and panning stuff looking at the MIDI to match it to the game's original song. Hopefully this is last edit to this port.

Phew, now that I got that outta the way, I did small edits to Athletic. I jx used Masterlinks trumpet recommendation on channel 5 (which fits perfectly), retuned the sticks/woodblocks and used $f4 $02. Also I can't believe this was my most downloaded song of NSMB like WOW! I think this song is now perfect and done with.

Next is the Invincible/Starman theme. Nothing much but retuning the stick/woodblocks on the last channel as well as using $f4 $02. Hopefully now I can send this to zack30.

Last but not least, imamelia has pretty much made me curious to wanna do unsampled versions of the ports and I gave the Overworld theme I go at it.
