LadiesMan217 Present™ Birabuto Kingdom!

Good stuff here. These things work good as alternatives to the ones available on MidiGuy's soundtrack. Keep it up.

Back with more ports guys from Super Mario Bros. Now available to listen, Underwater, Last Battle, World Clear! Please notify me if some instrument's pitches are even A BIT off, and I'll see where I messed up. Even though these are ripped with nintSPC, the texts aren't always right and some do require MAJOR adjustments, so please comment on wether they came out good or not.

They sound pretty much indistinguishable from the originals to me, but perhaps someone with a more keen ear would think otherwise. In my book, though, it's top notch as always.

...what? You expected me to weird you out with more double entendre? Nah, I might end up driving you to quit this project if I did that! #w{xD}

Really quick guys, I re-uploaded EVERY SPC becuae there was one thing that caught my ears that weren't making them sound right. Turns out, I forgot to turn on the FIR filter in all the songs! It was a simple $00 to $01 #ab{:P}. Not much of a difference can be heard unless you're using some good ear buds or headphones but they truly now sound indistinguishable to my ears. What do you guys think? And while I'm at it, here's Super Mario Bros.'s Ending, Bonus, and Invincible. Enjoy!

Yeah, I don't notice a difference, but I'll take your word for it. :P

So, are these ports going to be released for Addmusic 4.05, AddmusicK, or AddmusicM?

Also, at around 0:30 on the SMB overworld, it sounds a little...off. I don't know how to describe it, but compared to the original track on SMAS, it sounds a little different. Not a big deal, but I wonder why.

EDIT: Also I noticed this even before the new SPC came out so it's nothing to do with that.

That pic tho...
And okay, I'll try and see what it is, as for versions, it's gonna be for AMK but can EASILY be converted for AMM, but I don't think I'll make a b-list in the zip folder, that ya'll can do, though I don't know why people would use M as its difficult, and 4.05 is just an extension for SMWs beta SPC engine, personally, I'd go for AMK, that's just my opinion.

EDIT: I think I found the problem, the violin(01) was tuned off ever so so closely, but I got it as close as I could to the original's, it should sound better now, and while I'm at that, let me fix every other song that uses the violin O_o. Thanks!

Boy do I have a BUNCH of stuff to throw out at ya'll. Sorry but I'm just so tired right now and for the sake of not redoing every link on this post and updating the SPC List, click here to see what's new. Also, I did a little something funky with Wart's theme. Please comment and tell me what ya'll think. #ab{@_@}

In the SMB2 grass port the piano near the end of the loop serves no purpose and wasn't there in the original so you can get rid of it.

I apologize guys for the wrong spc of the Wart port, I gave ya'll the wrong one so their was no difference #ab{:S}. Anyways, here's the one I did something funky with, and here's the finished port of the Super Mario Bros. 2 Overworld.

If you're referring to the Super Mario Bros 2. Subspace port, there actually is a piano that plays in channels 6 & 7. In the game you only hear the song's first 6 or 7 seconds, and its basically the SMB1 Overworld song (with a few differences in how it loops), that one also has a piano in channels 6 & 7 as well, just give the song a good listen and you can hear them. (These are after all direct rip ports of the songs from the game)

You're welcome. :P

PS: The SMB Title link in the first post of this thread is broken. Might wanna fix that...

EDIT: Just listened to the newest ports. The pitch on Channel 3 (or 2, depending on whether you count channel 0 as 0 or as 1) of the SMB2 Underground port sounds off. The SMB2 Boss port also sounds a little off, although it's hard to say exactly what it is about it. The rest are all spot on, though, so good work as usual.

I just gave them a listen and couldn't hear a difference, I even checked the pitch in the SPC700 players and it's only off by like 2, which is the CLOSEST I can tune the samples, but either way, it's still indistinguishable to the human ear. I don't know what to say... As for the Boss port, that one's VERY noticeable to me now that you point it out, I went back to the text but couldn't find a solution. I'm actually open to suggestions on that one. It's now bugging me to be quite honest.
#smw{@_@}

I went back to every port and rewrote the DSP Registers to $60 on both $0c and $1c so they could match the originals, dunno if that's a big deal but why not right? I'm not going to update every SPC again, all it really did was just set a master volume on the right and left channels.

Grassland sounds just VERY SLIGHTLY off, hardly noticeable. I think it's a little less "twangy" than the original, but not a lot. The other two are pretty much spot on. Overall, pretty swell.

Maybe I'm mistaken. I thought it was channel 3, but either way, something sounded a bit lower-pitched than normal. But it's only a very minor difference. Maybe I'm just insane...

Actually, it is kind of a big deal. While changing the master volume could potentially make accurate ports, it has a major downside: It lowers the volume of everything and globally, including SFX, so basically if the song plays once it'll change the master volume forever unless you turn it off with another song (using the same DSP write commands) for another level or reset the game. I suggest messing around with the w command to get something closer instead of changing the master volume.

Also, yeah, the ports are a bit different from the originals, mostly because they're slightly quieter.

Hey guys I'm back with the some more Super Mario Bros. 3 ports! I finished the remaining world mapes: Giant Land, Sky Land, Iceland, Pipe Land, and Dark Land.

I just checked it and all the instrument's pitches are as close as possible. You're right, it is because of that "twangy" effect in the original as well as why the SMB2 Boss and SMB3 Dark Land port sound off as well. I don't know how to fix that. I wonder if messing around with the q command will help?

I believe your talking about the acoustic bass guitar (sample 05). In the SMAS version, it's amplitude is a little more stronger than SMW's (not necessarily louder and the pitch is still the same). SMW's acoustic bass guitar is still the same as SMAS's I believe but has a weaker amplitude.

WOAH THERE! I didn't know it did that, thank you for the information #ab{o_O}, saved me a heck of trouble! I will go back and delete those commands. Would you recommend me using the #louder command? Or does volume not matter for the accuracy of a Soundtrack?

These sound pretty accurate, nice job on them. However, don't ever use #louder for songs like these. They're loud enough on their own like this, no need to go even further.
Those ports are really good and they sound like their original counterparts keep it up!

I wonder, with the instruments that are lacking in "twang", did you use an SMW sample or the original SMAS sample?

Will do, I will try to keep these as close as I can with SMW's original samples!

I used the original SMW samples. You can tell by looking at the SPC700 player. The original SMW samples are 00-13 (in hex), every number after that is a sample not from SMW. SMAS uses the same samples SMW plus three more: 17 which is timpani (14 in this Soundtrack), 19 which is a trumpet (15 in this Soundtrack), and 20 which is only used for the wind and no songs in SMAS. Every other sample is the same as SMW's so that's why I'm sticking with those because why use more space right? Plus, it's less work for me #ab{^^;;;}. The "twangy" effect must have to do with the amplitude not being as strong, but it only seems to be with sample 04. I don't think I'll touch on that if not that many people care about it.

Sample 04...ahhh, that explains it then. I checked each song (including the SMB2 Underground) that sounded odd in SPC700 Player and they all use that sample. In fact, at the precise moment in SMB2 Underground that it began to sound odd up until it stopped sounding odd, I saw two of the 11's become 04's. My (un)educated guess would be that putting in SMAS's equivalent to Sample 04 (which appears to be either sample 05 or 06, depending on the song) in place of SMW's original one would fix it, but I don't know. As for how many people care, well, my OCD is kinda tweaked by it. Don't know about other people, though.
