Haru's SPC Showoff Thread

nice jobe with these. It's great to see your return :)
SSF2T - Akuma's Theme

I'm terrified of myself that I managed to actually preserve these samples so well.

Music is too good for comment.
the part with the vibraphone before it loops seems a tad confused about what the syncopation is

other than that it's nice, fairly chill and enjoyable to listen to

Phew, now that that's outta the way, dangit, I was porting that song as well (an amk 2 version with better insert size than the one currently) and I was gonna then later sample differently!

wow thanks

you do realize that my version aims to be as close to the original SNES track as possible right? lol

there's a fuckload of effects in there I can't get around to decrease insert size so sadly it is as big as it is (not that that's a bad thing in any case, since the song is really complex as far as data goes. It'll be hard to shrink it much more than the current one unless you scrap half of the effects!)

granted, I can still do some things to mine to make it better, but I am almost certain you can shrink it much more than I already have. The one up there is still 0xB80 bytes, which is not much different given the amount of stuff I still cut out (such as a billion sample changes).

I'm fine if you are gonna redo it in any case, but don't act all cocky about being able to do it smaller. I hate that sort of thing.

Well, I mean, DKC2`s OST DID use a lot of effects that would normally be unthinkable on a SNES (at least IMO), like flanging effects and even wah-wah effects too. I`m curious now, though, does anyone know how David Wise did all of this? I would imagine these being just old-fashioned sampling (with the flanging effects also having panning), but I`m not quite sure. Plus, I kinda wanted to see if a wah-wah effect COULD be possible on actual hardware (or at least a way to get custom guitar samples run through a wah-wah pedal), so there`s that...

you can do a wah-wah effect playing with pitch modulation

How, though? Just put a channel with putch modulation? Or do you have to do some other stuff too?

depends on what sample you use to do the wahwah effect on the sample you want

It's true but the specific wah-wah Zero's Sex Tape is referring doesn't involve pitch modulation I believe. Based on the SPC's (didn't look hard enough maybe) of DKC that effect is rarely, if even, used.

Oh hey, you managed to complete that! Seriously, after I saw the MP3 on The Fourth Modulator, I knew the completed product was gonna be bangin' from the moment I heard it. Really nice job!

if only I was actually good with my ear tho, then I could have finished my port of one of the Boss themes from Batrider faster, but NOPE #smw{-_-;}

fml tbh
