BG palette clashing with FG palette

I'm having a problem with a BG and it's palette, it completely messes up my FG! Is there anyway to isolate the 2 palettes so they don't effect each other? I've seen and played rom hacks that seem to have custom everything with no problem, so there must be some way to do something like that. Any help?
Here is an old mini-tutorial I made though it is slightly outdated now that you can copy entire palette rows.
Slightly easier method:

Just insert the palettes into two different levels and copy the relevant colours from one of them to the other. Ctrl+Alt+left/right click copies/pastes an entire palette row, which is very helpful if there are a lot of colours to copy.
What are the shared palettes for?
Shared palettes affect every level in the ROM. If you don't enable custom palettes, these are the palettes you edit instead.
Mario's palette is messed up too.

Here is the solution. Also next time can you post your problem in one thread instead of posting the same problem in two threads?

I can't get the ctrl+alt+left thing to work.

Did you press "left" on your keyboard or did you right click on the mouse? Use the mouse instead.

I held down ctrl+alt+left and then I hit right on the mouse.
That's not what I meant. Ctrl + Alt + left click copies a palette row, and Ctrl + Alt + right click pastes it; the palette editor itself tells you as much.

That doesn't work because after I copy and paste the FG row the BG gets messed up.

I also tried copying and pasting the five FG colors manually (I'm using the default FG) and the brown colors seem to work fine but the two green colors mess up the BG.

...Then that means your palettes are still intersecting. Use a different palette for one of them instead, and change the palettes the tiles are using via Map16.

Is there a list that tells you what objects/sprites use what pallets?
As for sprites, those are about accurate:
Palette 8
Palette 9
Palette A
Palette B
Palette C
Palette D
Palette E
Palette F
though you shouldn't really need to care about the sprite pallette.

As for blocks, just open the map16 #lm{16x} and couble-click on any block you want to know the palette of on the main window, it will take you right to the pam16 entry, where you cas see the palette it uses on the left side.

I did it with pallet 4, but I had to sacrifice the note blocks.#w{:<}
