There are a lot of cave levels. Hopefully, they can be distributed throughout the worlds instead of most of them being lumped into world 2. My level is also a cave, but it has a desert exterior and was intended to go into that world!
I honestly don't mind the number of cave levels. Either a level is above ground, or underground. As far as underground goes, there's only so much you can do to exhibit such.
I've inserted all of ROM 1's levels into the first ROM with only a few issues. It took far longer than I thought though.

Once I get ROM 2's levels ported over to ROM 1, I'll provide some statistics on the theme distribution. As of now though, cave and desert levels appear to be on top.

because you totally need your hamstring to design a level

hope you're feeling better <3

Probably could've pulled it off but it was better to just not aggravate it more than i already did.

And thanks, it's doing better now.
Opps. And here I thought grassland levels would be top. That or line grinder levels. Does mean I have a lot of competition now.

Aw well, I hope I still do decently, and that everyone gets what they wanted out of the competition.

That's a design choice, not a world theme :P

Still, I did see quite a few levels with grinders. They seemed to be more popular this year.

And that's because everyone though that there will be a lot of grassland levels that they didn't do a grassland level.
Same for desert levels. Desert levels are hard to make vanilla (because they aren't real desert graphics in SMW) people though there won't be lot of desert levels and have more chance to win the desert category that they made a desert level.

As for myself I decided to go with the abstract world because I didn't know what to chose so I decided to make a random weird level and label it as abstract. :P

Well it wasn't much trouble to me. The quality of the level isn't up to me to judge though :)
I find levels that comes up with their own themes much more interesting, and I know there's a few in this contest. There's one level that made active use of the THANK YOU decorations as well as P-Balloons and ropes, for example, and that looked very interesting.
Just asking, will the vanilla music remixes that are being used in the contest being released when the ROMs are done, or will that be up to the creators of the remixes?
This post is relevant.

Might be up to the creator of the remixes, but words from SNN (again) would be better.
They'll likely be released. I can't really see any reason why the composers would refuse to distribute tracks made public in a massive collaboration project.
I have a (late) question:

Would it be okay if you overwritten someone else's tile on Map16 that looks and acts as the same tile you are using (e.x. A Palette 3 Up-side Down Muncher)???

----------------------------------

Is cave levels the dominant theme mainly because we'll be forced to live in these if nuclear war were to happen in the future??
Uh .. why would you even do that?
I have this feeling that I'll score low like I do on all contests.
To S.N.N.: Suppose if someone needed more Map16 space and intruded someone else's space for no reason. That was just a question, I just followed the rules, as I wanted to know what would've happened if it were to actually happen.

DEAR SUPER MARIO WORLD HACKERS: To protect our independence, we'll never run ads. We take no smc form SMW hacks. We survive on SMW hacks averaging about 20-200 levels per week in SMW hacks. Now is the time we ask. If everyone reading this right now gave a SMW Hack, our fundraiser would be done within an hour. If the CLM Organization is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online and ad-free another year. Please help us forget depression and get back to the CLM Organization and playing SMW Hacks. Thank you.
I believe what would happen is said user would've been alerted to such an infringement and asked to fix it. Of course, after submission deadline, there would the possibility of losing points for not following rules.

If you nuked someone else's Map16 tiles somehow, you would lose points for not following the rules (likely one or two max).
Oh, I should probably note: I've actually opted out of judging this time (as of a couple weeks ago actually). As I've quickly discovered, inserting all of your resources and levels into the ROMs and merging them is taking about as long as it would have if I judged about three of these contests. Between school and that, I don't have time to do both judging and ROM building.

I have two other experienced hack moderators (and prior judges) who will actually be grading the levels. One is done - once I hear back from the other, I'll post the results and we can start getting the collab ROM pieced together and prepped for release.

That's all for now.
Any plans for the Overworld/Submaps?
