Samurai Champloo

I haven't seen a thread about it anywhere on here, so have you guys watched the short series Samurai Champloo? The last part, Champloo (or チャンプルー) means 'remix' which has to do with its hip hop themes that are prominent due to underground hip-hop dj Nujabes (great artist, check him out someday) writing the score.

Seeing as it was critically acclaimed and many of my friends recommended it, I decided to check it out and I loved it. Only a couple sub-par episodes, but the story-line is solid and the music and art stand out among other animes.

If anyone has watched it or watches it after reading this thread, let me know what you think of it.

26 episodes isn't really short, especially for a one-shot #ab{o_o}

but yeah, it's one of my favorite series. cant say much besides that it's awesome. Fuu is <3
gotta agree with Ladida, 26 episodes isn't really short. 10 episodes, those are the animes which are way to short... and it's always the good ones #smw{T_T}
Ah, I'm getting offtopic. Anyway, I watched this series a few years ago, so my memories aren't that fresh anymore but from what I remember, it was quite fun, even so though, not one of my TOP animes. But it's worth a watch nontheless.
Anime statistic on MyAnimeList:
400 animes completed ✓
6000 episodes completed ✓
100 Days completed ✓
... what even am I doing with my life?

I'm a big One Piece fan, so... to me it's short.

Awesome is one of the only words I use to frequently describe it. Fuu is probably the most tolerable if not likable female character I've seen in an Anime so far, but I could be wrong haha.

Blaah. The music is part of the reason it's one of my favorites! I listen to Nujabes a lot, so to find out he wrote the soundtrack was a huge surprise (I was even delighted to hear one of his songs when I was in Japan, in Tokyo Sky Tree. My my that was a lovely surprise). Like I said earlier, this series is all about the art, which is my main appreciation for it. Who can't say that this wasn't one of the most epic things ever?

It was my second anime after Code Geass and I still don't understand the hype behind it. It was interesting and unique in its own way, but it wasn't compelling like FMAB or moving like Clannad. It felt like the show was average in every aspect of storytelling rather than specialising in one, which is why I think it's regarded as an all around great watch.

To each his own.

The fusion of hip-hop themes into Edo-era Japan successfully with brilliant artwork and animation to back it up was what sparked the critically-acclaimed aspect of it. While the story may not be the best, it does its job quite well, as I was on the edge of my seat several times as I'm sure other people were too.

Yeah, some of the Animes you quoted weren't my favorites, but hey, I still watched and enjoyed them nonetheless #w{=3}

Thanks for the comment though, I wanted to hear from someone who didn't like it as much just as much as from the people who praise it.

EDIT: Question for anyone who remembers... What the hell was that mushroom episode supposed to even be about?

I love Samurai Champloo, mainly for the music. That anime introduced me to Nujabes, Fat Jon, Shing02 and Force of Nature. They're all very talented artists.

Like SERIOUSLY: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdQYzEc6wYw

As for the anime itself, the story was entertaining and the characters were funny. I really enjoyed it.
