2014 Resolutions

It's that time of year again. Although I'm not generally too keen on setting resolutions, I decided to come up with a few this year:

-Put more focus into school than I ever have before. I'm on my final term, so it's pretty crucial that I succeed.
-Stop wasting so much time. I'm getting older, and 2013 was full of days where I would laze around, browse Reddit/Facebook/whatever.
-Start putting more emphasis on volunteering and helping others out. I got into this towards the end of 2013 (Christmas season), but I don't see why it should be limited to a single time of the year.

What about you?
I resolve to do my best at everything I try to accomplish.

I'm pretty content with who I am, so I don't really have any self improvement goals. I just want to continue on living the way I want.
I've got the usual ones people have at my age - lose weight, keep working at it, be prepared for college - but most importantly to me is to start playing the games I have. It's about time I start actually playing all these games and put my hundreds of dollars spent (and the hundreds of dollars my family spent) getting all these damn games.

That, and to finally make an interesting thread that I continually update. It's getting embarrassing to quit pretty much every thread I make, which is sad because imo I've liked a lot of the ideas I've come up with. (except for that bundle thread that was just a trainwreck)
Last year's resolutions:

✓ Lose weight (went from 180 -> 145)
X Eat better (no)
✓/X Good school grades (up until senior year, ✓)
✓ Go to Japan

This year's:

• Work out, get toned (began a week or two ago)
• Go to college (just got accepted)
• Complete my hack (already started)
• Learn a new programming language (please not Java)
• Stay with my girlfriend (should be easy enough)
• Finish in top 3 for State Level Japanese Speech Contest
• Make All-State band on oboe
The two things that come to mind first are becoming healthy and putting in more effort. I am an unhealthy person and I really need to fix that, as it completely screws your life over.
This year of school my grades have been dropping, I am still doing alright but I am actually failing my pre-calculus class right now, and I only have a few weeks to fix that. I need to stop procrastinating and actually put effort into my work.

The next thing that I think of is my happiness. The past few years have been a bit hard, and a lot of the time I don't think I have been very happy. A bunch of that is just because you go through puberty and grow up and realize things, but still. I don't think I am supposed to have been as unhappy as I have been for the past few years.
I really only feel happy now when I am able to do things on the computer like watching anime and playing video games or just fooling around on IRC. My family makes me happy but a lot of the time they stress me out.
I think part of it is just overthinking things too much. I think of what is going to happen to my parents and then what could happen to my sister and me and it really just all crashes down on me.

I think once I start getting my grades up, and exercising, eating healthily and not doing dumb things like sitting on the computer for 16 hours every day will cause me to become much happier.

Another thing which I have only just been thinking about for the past few hours is just getting more involved. I shut myself in and don't interact with anyone aside from on the internet, and even then I don't interact as much as I could.
Having fun on IRC and watching, reading and playing things is good, but I want to, I guess live life more to its fullest. Stop worrying about the littlest things and just experience more stuff. I enjoy all this media where I watch characters do things as they would in real life and I love it, but I never actually do much of the things I see characters do. I see them do it and think I would really enjoy it, but I have never experienced it for myself. I mean it is entertainment so it is a bit exaggerated and romanticised but that doesn't mean I can't try.

I think this post got a bit heavier than maybe it should be, because it is just a new year's resolution. But I think and hope writing it down in some detail will encourage me to go through with it, and maybe even encourage someone else to think beyond "I'll just make a new year's resolution but I am not really going to follow through with any of it." I mean I could end up doing that exact thing too but I hope not.
I don't really have any Resolutions. I know to keep working hard at school and my hobbies. I guess the only thing would be toe exercise more, I do not do enough of that. Honestly, I'm happy with how life is going and I love my friends, so I have no worry there.

I'm usually not keen on setting resolutions either, but I have a few anyway:
-Get back into an actual exercise routine, doing workouts at least 3-4 times a week, not just getting on the exercise bike or jogging around the block as I see fit and calling it a day (Starting is one thing but keeping from getting derailed and distracted is a challenge).
-Take a summer semester and/or get a summer job
-Significantly curb my exposure to Lunar Magic (I feel like I use it too much), which will make it easier to do my next thing on the list
-Pursue other hobbies I miss (painting, lifting weights, etc.)
-Participate in more fun runs (those happen surprisingly more often than I assumed)
Legacy custom music

- Lose weight. I had some good results in December, BUT holidays. 'nuff said.
- Get into college, by any means.
- Try to get enough spare time to do my usual stuff.
- Start a new social level in my life.
- Meet my friends more often.
- Make some good progress on my hack project.
- Be more active in this community, although it probably won't happen due to stuff like college.
I decided to choose only two this year, as I forgot last year's resolutions. #w{xD}

....
If anyone here knows what a VDL SB180 is (Google it), I want to get on one, because there's only one in London service.

As well as ending (or at least reducing) my procrastination. Those who know me will know I'm horrible with it.
Usually inactive/procrastinating on a hack idea.
There's a couple of things I'd like to achieve, but I hesitate to make them full-fledged "resolutions".

All I hope, generally, is for the circumstances and my mental condition to allow me to be happy.

Last year's resolutions:
- None

This year's resolutions:
- Stop being so finicky and anxious about my diet (i.e. be secure in going vegetarian. Enough of this vegan crap; it reinforces my OCD.)
- Learn to drive and get a car
- Maintain a slim figure
- Keep the hacks section down to single digits
- Stay out of the hospital
- Be less reclusive on SMWC
- Not confuse poor THY

Just look above you...
If it's something that can be stopped, then just try to stop it!
I don't have specific goals in mind for 2014, but I do have general things I'd like to accomplish. Losing some weight and gaining some confidence would be nice. I'm also pretty happy with the advances I've made socially over the past few years, but it'd be nice to hang out with people more.

That said, I think New Years' Resolutions are dumb. I really think bettering yourself should be a constant process, not something you decide to do at the beginning of the year and then give up on after a few weeks.
Not really the New Year's Resolutions type of guy, but I have a few things I'd like to stick to this year.

- Find a job in Japan and do that one-year Working Holiday program
- dedicate myself more to learning Japanese
- stay together with my girlfriend
- finish my apprenticeship with good grades
Actually having a new year resolution.
i just lurk sometimes
Not really 'resolutions', rather just things I would like to keep in mind..

- be more active regarding anything, internet & real life stuff.
- spend my free time with better stuff, concentrate on progressing
- spend waaay more time doing healthy stuff
- Stop burdening other people with my problems: It feels good to share but seriously, stop being so whiny to people that have their own lives and problems
- Stop bitching out when girls like me: Yeah being friends is great but showing your interested in a girl and never following up on it is totally disrespectful and full beta shit.
- Work on fear of rejection: You want to be an actor but you're afraid of auditions. That's horrible and not going to get you anywhere.
- Get my license: Why don't you have one yet? Seriously.
- Get a job: See above.
I think that's it for now.
ask me if i give a f*ck...
- Lose some weight. Uh, holidays...
- Get better at school.
- Get a girlfriend. Won't be easy. :|
- Try to stop screwing stuff up.
- Solve some of my personal problems. :|

I think that's... all.
Hang out with friends more often
Do something during summer break (internship/job/get driver's license/take a college course/etc)
I don't believe in resolutions because IMO they're just excuses you could have done anytime.

However, I'm setting daily goals for myself in my weight loss journey (So far -60 LBS and counting!) and that seems to be working well :)

Well, a bit late on that, but I didn't see this thread until now. :/

Anyway, I just want to suck less. I mean, I can't just stop like that, but I can at least make efforts to improve what can be improved, like...

Eh...

I dunno? Trying to be more social? Is that possible without killing my already-laughable school results?
