Tip: Take advantage of easy to install Patches in your hack. The No More Sprite Tile Limits or SA-1 patches should be considered if you're encountering glitches where Mario and/or sprites are turning invisible.

Zsnes won't save (Mac)

I'm getting "unable to save" errors in Zsnes. What do I have to put in the "paths" field to make it work? I've tried every variant of "Computer/[hard drive name]/Users/[my name]/Desktop" that I can think of, but I still get "unable to save" every time. What am I doing wrong?

(Note that I'm using a Mac.)

As someone who is employed to provide front-end over-the-phone tech support for Macintosh computers, I say:

Use Snes9x. It works substantially better on a Mac.
Just as well, since I reinstalled it and got it to work. But now this Rom of YI crashes at the Nintendo Presents logo, even though it gets an OK checksum...

In ZSNES or Snes9x? If Snes9x, redownload the ROM and try again. If it still fails, reinstall OS X test the issue in a new user account on your Mac (in which you would download the emulator and ROM and try again). This will help isolate if this is a ROM issue, an application issue, or an OS X issue.

If ZSNES, then I don't know what to say.
^ It was crashing in Zsnes. Snes9x is loading everything just fine.

I wanted to stick with Zsnes because I'm a really sloppy player and I like having rewinds, which Snes9x doesn't have.

Zsnes is overall very unstable and many games can not be played in it. You'll either need a more accurate emulator for those games or to just not play games which zsnes cannot.

If you like rewinds, you should look at retroarch. Heres a video which demonstrates its real time rewind capabilities: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbSqtE9Ct_s

Note: SSNES is the old name, it is now known as retroarch. Retroarch is a multi-console emulator and uses snes0x or bsnes (user choice) for SNES emulation. It should work fine on a mac, though I do not have installation instructions handy. There may be precompiled packages around somewhere tough, you'll just need to look around.
