Tip: Using Lunar Magic's "Change Properties in Sprite Header" dialogue, you can adjust the sprite slots in which sprites can spawn. For example, by using a sprite memory setting that doesn't use slot 07, you can easily prevent Reznor breaks in your hack.

Okay, so this team hack is now officially a thing. #smw{^_^}

First and foremost, the plot: Bowser kidnaps Mario and sends him to the Pokémon world, where he gets turned into a Lucario. After that, he meets up with two Mew, who reveal themselves as the ones responsible for Mario's transformation, and that they're using it as a way of recruiting everyone they can for a mounting war against Mewtwo. (Guess who the final boss is...)

Secondly, this hack is hopefully going to turn out chocolate, what with ExGFX abuse and PowerTool.

And thirdly, the OW's built; I just need some level design. I'll make a base IPS later; for now, if you're doing level design, just upload a MWL file.

Enjoy the OW!

OPEN LEVEL SLOTS (Levels are now color-coded according to difficulty [easy to hard], and italicized levels are double-exit. Again, secret exits should be post-Switch Palace only. If you're going to be doing custom Map16, ExGFX, music, etc., just PM me with the source files and where they go.)

I really need a layout. :<
Where are the Lucario graphics, I mean what is the point of the OW in combination with the plot? Furthermore I think the Overworld you present is way to blocky.

What custompowerups exactly? Present some.

And for the introduction, I have an idea btw. There is a "Koopa" sprite in the Sprites section, which temporarly switches Mario graphics with that form the Koopa GFX in GFX01. We can use to showcase SMW Mario in the beginning(and ending)

In order: They're on my computer, the OW is basically the microcosm of the Pokémon world this hack is focusing on, I have no idea how to make it less blocky without interfering with the Mario paths, (hopefully) Luigi's fireballs and something where hitting an enemy on the side = jumping on it, I'll look into that.
So, are you going to get in on this collab or no?

--------------------
I really need a layout. :<
I'm sorry but no, you need more effort in your startpost. I like Pokemon themed games, but simply posting some ideas+OW isn't enough for me.

Then never mind then. Move along.

First of, the overworld looks okay so far, but some parts seem empty. (E.g. world 3)
You should add some decorations to the ground.

You could add some more land at the right end of the world 2 map and in world 3 you could make the river (or is it?) have another inlet to the left, maybe even with a secret exit.
The square called world six could be extended to the sides irregulary too.
(This doesn't mean your overworld is bad, it could just be improved.)

Anyways, I would like to take level 1-3.

There are actually several double-exit levels; I should probably list those in the level-dibbing part. #smw{^_^;}
And I'm adding you to 1-3 now.
EDIT: You can now claim a boss if you want.

...or how about using red dots on the map...
Thanks for adding me to the level, I will try not to disappoint you.
One question: what Map16-tiles am I allowed to use?

One question: what Map16-tiles am I allowed to use?

Well, since I want the double-exit levels to be very closely-guarded secrets (read: can't access them until you hit the switches in World 8), I just used the yellow tiles.
Anything normally usable for custom Map16 is usable.

I just added World 4 levels to the list of claimable parts.
EDIT: Screw tiers, I'm putting it all on the table now.

I need help picking out some music!
Which is a better tutorial theme: this or this?
I'll add more music dilemmas later.

Alright, since MercuryPenny has come clean on his plotline, I might as well do likewise.

PLOT

After his most recent setback, Bowser decides to capture Mario as a change of pace. However, after a failed jailbreak attempt, Bowser realizes that keeping Mario is too dangerous, and discarding him to a different dimension would be a better idea. So, with Kamek's help, Bowser sends Mario to the Pokémon world, where he meets a pair of Mew that turn him into a Lucario. The two Mew then state that a Mewtwo is trying to turn Trainers into Pokémon and take over the world, but the Mew are using similar tactics as a line of defense against Mewtwo.
Then Mewtwo reveals himself, kidnaps one of the Mew, and uses her as a ransom for Mario to proceed to his base. After Mario arrives at Mewtwo's base (in space!) and defeats his army, Mewtwo then drops another bombshell: He's destroying the world! Mario then must confront Mewtwo for one final battle in space, with the world's sustained existence on the line.

Actually, the reason that I don't want to see Lucario/Riolu is because the fact that they resemble canines that I really don't like.

Alright, I won't be able to work on this for a while. My computer recently had an episode, so I'm going to let it stabilize for a while.

EDIT: It's stable now.

I'm getting impatient; here, have some screenies.

The player GFX are in! *squee*

You can either go down this green pipe...

...or take a leap of faith and get a yellow pipe and a Star Piece.

If the "leap of faith" you are talking about is a blind jump, you may want to add some indication that you can go down there, such as some coins.

There really isn't enough to say about the level design, but it looks okay.

Actually, I've noticed that other games that have the player blind-jump for goodies have been positively received in general. I don't want the Star Pieces to have any sort of indication of where they are aside from their existence.

I really need a layout. :<
Just because they have it and they are positively received does not mean it's necessarily a good thing.
