Where can I get MSCOMCTL.ocx without any risk of viruses?
I'd really like to try out Super Mario Land 2 hacking, but I'm unable to open MooJelly or MarCas without MSCOMCTL.ocx.
Despite the fact that Microsoft ended support for Visual Basic 6 six years ago, you should still be able to use this.
Uh. How can I extract/insert graphics from/to Moai-Kun?
Alright, let's try here:

When doing a RPG hack, it's inevitable that you,re going to have to edit your characters stats, enemies stats...

Does someone has tips for this? I know this is on a per game, but like general tips?

I was thinking about:

-> Determine the "maxest" stats of the controllable characters at the highest level and the "minest" stats of the controllable characters at the lowset level possible
-> Determine the growth rate of the stats of the controllable charactes.
-> Determine the growth of the character's level during the plot(like at this moment, he should have X level, at this stage, X level, etc.)
->Adjust experience given by ALL the enemies.
-> Give the hardest boss of your hack some stats.
-> Test it(with items avaible)
-> Make some adjustment if it's not right. Retest and Repeat if necessary.
-> Move on to an earlier boss.(Be sure to test it with a expected level)
->Once every boss is made, do the small enemies, fighting them a number expected to meet them(like you expect the player to meet this formation 4 times, fight them 4 times with the same characters)
->Done!

Opinions?

I have a Hacking Question concerning New Super Mario Brothers Wii. I was told the Program of Choice for Hacking this game is Reggie. However, when I downloaded it and loaded the program, it would not open my NSMBWii ISO for editing. Is there anything I am doing wrong?
You need to rip the individual files from it. You can either do it with your NSMBW disc and some homebrew channel stuff, or you can download them from somewhere else.

You can also use Dolphin to rip the files.

Open your ISO in Dolphin Emulator, click properties, view the partition, extract the "stage" folder, open any of the .ARC archives in Reggie, i.e w1_1.arc is World 1 stage 1.
I have answered a question fairly similar to this.

How do I rip Super Money Ball Jr (GBA) models?

since the GBA can't display 3D models all of the graphics in Super Monkey Ball Jr would be sprites so you'd just rip them like any other graphics.

The GBA has a bitmap mode (several, actually), which the game uses to implement software 3D rendering.

Here's a quick video:

The GBA doesn't actually have any ability to render 3D visuals, and every 3D effect on the system is pseudo effects using mode 7 like scaling and bitmap forced perspective techniques to achieve the appearance of true 3D.

Take Crazy Taxi for example, it consists of sprites populating a bitmap space with flat textured walls. What look like 3D walls are really just flat vertical textured planes that are sometimes perpendicular to the horizontal plane where the sprites move. This effect was used extensively on the GBA for FPS games like Doom.

Monkey Ball Jr falls into this as well so even though it's very well made it's not actually 3D and so there are no models just 2D images scaled to look 3D.

I still think it uses software 3D rendering.
Take this depth sorting:

Also this backspace culling:

Also there exists these debug strings:
addVert
addQuad
addTri
addUTexQuad
addUTexTri

You are correct that as a 32-bit console the GBA is capable of rendering 3D visuals the problem lies in the fact that Nintendo never supported true polygon 3D as they felt the resolution of the LCD screen was too low and so they scrapped it.

Unofficially there have been a few 3D engines that have been made to run on the GBA but nothing officially the GBA runs a graphics custom 2D core that is more of less an advanced super Fx chip.

So even though Monkey ball Jr looks and acts 3D it's all just sprites that are manipulated.
