Hack Submission's description
Just a SmW hack with 1 Level

Hack Submission Notes
Have fun with the hack :)

Cons:
- Assassin coins, because I had no advice around the hack that the coins would hurt me.
- Invisible ceiling out of nowhere. Probably it's just my personal opinion but it wasn't really that needed for this area of the level, since the coins would've killed me.
- Repetitive and annoying area that I really didn't find fun, but boring. I'm only saying this because it was way too long.
- I've found no P-Switch as I was supposed to, but the end of the level that made my guess that this level is endless.
- Too short hack, there was only one level and I barely could even have around 5 minutes of gameplay of this one.

Pros:
- Good hack concept, but it should've been worked better in the hack.

In short, I really didn't like playing the hack. Too short, annoying and unfair difficulty and even endless, unless you want to wait the Timer to kill yourself when it reaches zero.
I really didn't want to sound mean with this review, but I'll have to say this hack should be rejected. Difficulty should be Hard, even if it's a generic way to make Hard difficulty for a hack.

My advice is to take some time and remake your hack from stratch using the same concept, but in an actually fun way. Keep in mind how others would react for your hack, that might help you out.

Quite a short hack that never seemed to end.

Since this hack is pretty short and it mostly did not have anything except a complete level edit (no custom palettes or anything - pretty much vanilla), I will focus mostly on the level design here. The level in my honest opinion is poorly designed and needs to be scrapped so that a better level can be made. Going over each segment of what was specifically wrong, I found that you did not take everything into consideration when placing blocks in the level. They seem hastily placed as if there was some kind of rush in designing this. Not good. First impressions are important in a hack and if the player is turned away by the design then chances are that it is not a really well designed hack in general. As I move throughout the level, I can clearly see invisible solid blocks and death blocks that seem like normal objects such as coins. Clearly bad design as they do not take into account whether the player knows about them as they seem harmless and the placement of them is horrid in my opinion which artificially pushed the difficulty up with this repetitive nonsense. Speaking of repetitiveness, I found the second half of the level extremely boring with brown blocks that I have to jump from and to. Extremely repetitive and then I am greeted with a group of death coins along with no seeming end. I did not find a P-Switch that a message box claimed there was here. It is pretty clear that the level seems broken at this point.

As for other things to talk about? To be honest, there isn't much. I did see some cutoff from place to place although they were usually pipes cutting into other objects. I encountered a glitch with the note blocks at the beginning and while that is a glitch in the original SMW, it is extremely noticeable and therefore better choices should be made when placing those blocks. You can actually fix them with a patch if you do desire. Flying cheep-cheeps are not my thing in that area as a final statement. Consider starting afresh as this hack is pretty much broken and badly designed.

Difficulty: Hard due to the block placement and unfair parts with the death blocks that seemed like normal objects.

I would go with rejection as the game is fundamentally broken due to all of the reasons that I have stated above. Please start a new hack instead of reviving this as the level present is not really good at all. Sorry.
This hack needs to be improved majorly.

The title screen is a little messy and not really good looking, and the overworld is the same as SMW's Yoshi's Island overworld, but edited slightly. Since the hack is only two levels, I thought there should've been a small, basic overworld. The level design needs a lot of work. A lot of the ground is just Cement Blocks, which don't look that nice. I suggest you you some of those Cement Blocks to actual ground. The levels themselves are not well designed. The first level had boring/unfair level design in some parts, and one part had coins that kill you. The hack doesn't even tell you they hurt you.

I got to the end of the level, but I think I needed a P-switch, but I didn't find one in the level. So now, I can't complete the level. Overall, this hack needs a rework in terms of level design, and hack length. I hope you do better next time.

Difficulty: Hard due to a lot of the level design being unfair, and the coin part.

I think this should be rejected.
Well, this looks like a first time hack :3
The hack is to be rejected, that's for sure. There is only one level (which I'm not even sure it can be beaten) but that alone isn't the problem. The hack is just to short. Even one-level hacks need a minimum playtime to be accepted.

Sadly, even if this wasn't the case, I still couldn't accept this hack. Let's take a look at it one step at a time.
The intro screen doesn't look too appealing to me. The border tiles used seem to be from the layer 3 smasher and, in all honesty, should not be used for this ^^'. Next up would be the overworld. It's kinda nice that you edited it to just lead to your level, but within your edit, you created small cutoff areas with the rocks.

Now for the level itself. The first jump from the pipe to the cement blocks is kinda tricky. The noteblock jumps can glitch you in the wall, resulting in killing you. Soon after that, we get to a section with low and precision jumps... what's with the sudden Kaizo element? This isn't even hard, having to do low jumps like that is legid Kaizo in my eyes. Later, there is also a easy to get 3up moon. Those should always be hidden or hard to optain.

Something I actually found rather interesting was (and I don't know if that happened to others too) that there was, after a while, always only 1 flying fish onscreen. Once that one fish despawned, the next one jumped up. I find this as interesting as irritating... because I have no idea how you pulled that off (regardless whether this was intended or not).

Lastly, I can't seem to beat the level, for I didn't find any P-switches whatsoever.

So yeah, this hack is to be rejected.
I'm used to seeing a lot of cutoff and flunchers in first time hacks, so I guess this was kinda good (for a first (or maybe early) time). I just give you the advice, to not sumbit or share your very first works. After starting out, people often belive that their hacks are the greatest thing out there (so did I at least) only to realize, after becoming better and more expirienced, that their first work was pretty crappy.
Of course, there are people who produce good quality stuff even on their first attampt, but that's more rarly. So... before submiting something, it's often a good idea to contact some testers and ask for their oppionion)

(back to reviewing, i guess.)

so, will mario without mushroom be accepted or not? let's find out:

first off, your title screen has a glaring problem: the border is very ugly, and the title "mario without mushxroom" has a bad palette, and uses colors as the background to make it difficult to read.

first off: coins kill you, which i didn't know they did, there are invisible walls in between the clouds near the fish generator.

i also could tell that english isn't your native language, correct? then try hiring proofreaders to proofread your text, as it was sometimes, very difficult to read properly.

i was supposed to find a p-switch in the level, but for the heck of me, i couldn't find one. i managed to look in lunar magic, and the p-switch was at the very end of the level, but it did not appear in-game. could it be sprite memory issues or was it intentional?

verdict: i would definitely reject this hack, as even the area past the p-switch was a very long, flat section with a few coins per screen. i recommend studying featured hacks, play some hacks here, and get an idea for level design before you work on another project. to be honest, a few parts in your hack were ok, but the area where you jump constantly on 1-tile used blocks was extremely boring and repetitive.

difficulty: hard.

i wish you luck on your future hacks.
My Inspiring Quotes on Personal Growth and Change:

"Resolved financial/personal problems equal greater growth!"

"The only constant thing in life is change; nothing is set in stone. The old is replaced with the new. Forgive yourself for past mistakes. When many different problems in your life are resolved (personal, financial, etc.), newfound strength and confidence is gained in the process. Usually, failures, lack of assertiveness, disappointments, incompetence, low self-esteem and lack of self-respect, financial struggles, and setbacks can cause us to change and take action to solve any problem, leading to increased strength and confidence. This you learn from experience.

I have been experiencing this aforementioned newfound strength and confidence myself for the past FOUR to EIGHT years or so, getting stronger with each passing year, learning with each mistake I make and becoming more joyful in the process. Because of this newfound confidence I've acquired over the years, finding my passion is of utmost importance in 2022! You can develop this strength and confidence in yourself as well!"

To whoever's reading this, you are amazing and you are capable of doing equally amazing things. Gather confidence and be yourself! Say goodbye to the old you and welcome the new you! It wants to arise every moment, but you don't let it. Learn from your mistakes and never make that mistake again! Find your passion and live it!"

Finding my passion in life, but I may still be active on SMWCentral from time to time. Still enjoy playing many hacks, but I'm widening my perspective on life and opening myself to the new.
This hack looks weird. As some users already pointed out, this looks like a first time hack: not that these are always bad, but this one doesn't seem this good to me.
The level design is...not good, though I saw some interesting concepts here and there. The execution is one of the worst I've seen: invisible blocks, coins that kill you without any warning, endless and overused concepts seem to sum up your hack. While I appreciate the effort you put in order to make this hack hard, I believe you got into the unfairness. For example, I may be dumb sometimes, but the very first jump was annoying to pass for me; another clear example of unfairness is the muncher section with the coins that kill you, where I had to use savestates at each jump. Unless there's another way to pass that section, it's ridicolously hard to pass.
Not much to say about aesthetics, which was full of cutoff mainly. The OW was an ugly edited version of the original, and of course, not good at all.
The difficulty is nearly Kaizo, but since I barely played Kaizo hacks in my life, I'd stick to hard.
Said this, I'm going for rejection, because of terrible designed level, not good aesthetics and lenght (which I forgot to mention: one level hacks like this one don't feel like there's lots of work put in). Don't be discouraged by this though: play other hacks to get more ideas and to improve your own level design, and also get beta testers, they will help you a lot.
