Hack Submission's description
" Bowser has stolen
the magic of the
Sphere
Hurry up before it
reduces the world
into chaos "

v0.3 : Fixed bug for the Snes9x 1.53

Cons:
- [1] [2] Be more careful when placing berries at spots like those, as their default "blank tile" will probably have a different palette.
- This area = http://www.smwiki.net/images/c/cc/MajorSlowdown.gif
- Please consider fixing this area, it's what happen when placing slopes like this.
- Areas with low ceiling this one kill the player when big. Make it two tiles high so the player won't get stuck and die.
- Sometimes sprite header errors can happen causing the disappearance of some sprites, even though it doesn't happen often you should look onto that.
* This spot looks kind of weird, since its top is solid but the bottom isn't.
* I really have to point out that this doesn't look good at all for a bullet bill shooter.
* [1] [2] [3] Yeah, it ruins the fun as I probably was supposed to throw shells at the piranha to eventually kill it.
* This spot was kinda annoying to pass, the jumps themselves are annyoing to perform if flawless.
* Please apply this patch to your hack to prevent this graphical glitch [1] [2] to happen.

Pros:
- A different storyline from the original is always a good start to make your hack look more unique.
- Good aesthetics and choice of graphics. Even thought the palette works could be better they weren't that bad.
- Good level design! I can't say it wasn't boring at some spots but it was overall well done. Barely could find unfair spots.
- Reasonable length of levels, which is good for demos that aren't very short.
- Overall, I had fun playing this hack. To be honest it wasn't impressive by seeing the screenshots but it was kinda fun at my end.

* = Personal opinion, as it's subjective and not objective like the others. They won't count.

Taking this hack to the objective side, I've found it to be an underrated one - While it had its bad points it also had good ones that made the hack fun to play, and the latter is what mostly matters in a hack. It had good level design overall, it wasn't unfair at my end so all I have to say is that the author did put effort on it. All the author will need is to double-check his hack for fixing bugs and related stuff.

I think the hack should be accepted. But as I've mentioned to the author, double-check your hack for bug fixes and stuff.
As for the difficulty I'd suggest Normal. Overall, the levels weren't easy neither hard at my end.

Good stuff, keep working like that for the future, it seems you're taking the right way for getting even better at SMW hacking!

...feels so weird to listen to own ports in others' hacks~ #thp{=D}
Anyway, this hack is pretty good I think: nice graphics, good level design and pleasant atmospheres seem to be the main pros for your hack. Let's go in the detail now.
The level design is good: you give to players a nice challenge in each level, never boring or frustrating. Maybe the level with the timer gimmick makes a big spike in the difficult curve here, so I'd suggest to make that particular level easier. Not more to say here, I think, the overall is very good and pleasant, as said before.
The aesthetic is very good, with nice mix of GFX and good palettes. I'm a little unsure on some palettes of the first world though, but for the rest it's really well done. I'm also unsure on the snow OW's palette, but that's more a personal opinion than else. Nice work overall.
As main complaint in term of glitches I'd like to mention some annoying slowdown that occurs in some levels. Either remove some sprites or give the SA-1 patch a try.
The difficult of the hack is normal, maybe hard in some parts, but as overall I feel it's normal.
In conclusion, I would accept the hack: it's a pretty good demo, where hard work is obviously shown. Good luck with it, I'm looking forward for the full relase!
also we need more Touhou music in hacks
Yay, done with yet another hack.
So, first things first (namly, the good things). This hack looked really good. Nice level design and some challanging aspects. If anything, the levels sometimes are rather flooded with power-ups. For the most parts though, the difficulty is about right. You wouldn't want it to be too easy, would you ^^?
I (personally) am not really a fan of these changed graphics, but I guess there are planty of people who like them, so I'll just keep my mouth shut on them :X

The overworld too looks neat. For the main overwrold, maybe you wanna throw in some small islands or something to decorate the emtpy sea. Even though you don't usually see it, people will most like scroll the OW to check it out, so you could either add some stuff to it, or you disable the scrolling. (I recommend the former).

Now on to the levels:
While I in general liked most of them, I can only give you the serious advice, to remove Yoshi for good from your hack. I didn't see any real necessarity for him, but he glitches up and breaks (given blue shells and such) lot's of levels.
[1][2][3][4][5]
Of course, you could just fix those bugs, but if you don't need Yoshi, you might just want to remove him from the game altogether.

Another thing I didn't really like was the (not so) occasional slowdown. While some levels were done completly without it, in some others, it became a serious pain in the a**. You might want to check out Vitor's SA-1 patch. It could conflict with custom sprites, so make a backup before trying stuff with it. Other than that, you could always remove some of the sprites causing the slowdown ^^'

From the way the hack is build, I can tell you are a decent hacker, so I'm kinda dissapointed to see you use the slender pipes, which are kinda part of the 101 of things not to do in hacks :( [1][2]

Lastly, I hate those bosses. I don't know why, but I keep getting hit for random reason when jumping on them. Spinjumping proved to be efficient but doesn't work 100% of the time. There is also this thing with the Kirby boss. When I hit him with the cape, he jumps a little higher, so when I hit him while jumping, he jumps on the lightning and... well, I'm fucked

I really liked this hack, but the amount of bugs and thelike I've found make me really unsure as to what to go for. 90% of the bugs would be gone the instant you delete Yoshi from Yoshi's house (renaming might be an option too xD).
I'll actually go with rejecting for now. May seem harsh, but for now it'S 2/1 for acceptance. So maybe this will be enough, or future reviews also vote in your favor. Either way, if you just fix the Yoshi related bugs and the fact that the Kirby boss can leave me in a room of eternal bordom waiting for the time to run out, I too, will vote for accepting this.
I know I could say something like Everest often does with "accept but please submit update", but when I think about it, even if I (or everybody else) says that, it doesn't mean that an update will ever be submited, and thus we're stuck with a buggy hack in the moderated section. And the hack would have to be re-reviewed anyway, so it boils down to the same.
With all that said, once more, this hack is great and I think you did a really good job here, so don't let my negative statment discourage you :>
As for the difficulty, normal seems to fit, even though it's kinda powerup flooded.

I like this hack, I found more little mistakes, like the death of Mario after staying in a small area like the castle # 2.
But the map was awesome especially the world 2.
Am I required to accept this hack!#smw{:TUP:}
Okay 3/1, if the demo and accepted . I will put a new demo with the world 4 later BUT if the demo and refused I will post this demo, but with the bugs corrected

Nice hack here. The problem seems to revolve around one area in this hack.

My general feelings on the hack tend to be positive and this is because of the elements in the hack such as the level design, graphics, sprites and many other things present. This hack is one of the few that kept me interested throughout it and I'll praise the level design for this. Beginning with the level design as I usually do, I must say that I am rather impressed with how you managed to create levels with an appropriate difficulty level for the most part. I can clearly say that I like the varied design of the level such as including different elements and landforms throughout the level and also I am pleased by the sprites you used for each of them. Early (though not so early) in the hack, I saw you used YI sprites and while that would usually result in me giving a generic response to it, I must say that the sprites were used exceptionally in this case as it kept my interest in the level design by integrating the sprites to it. This actually applies to other sprites throughout the hack and I can say that I will say the same for the objects as well. Good job on them! There are some unusually difficult areas but I cannot say that for the majority of this hack. Well done overall!

The graphics in this hack are not exactly my type of style but I must say that they were used in a more pleasing way so I guess I am fine with them. In some levels however, you did seem to use some odd palettes which do not look good in my opinion however that is the minority of levels. The overworld seems pretty neat along with all of the other minor elements that add a nice touch to the hack (including the keyhole symbols for secret exits on the overworld and the title screen). What I am more concerned about in this hack is that there are several glitches in this hack. Slowdown is present and sprite memory problems are visible in some parts of the hack. What concerned me the most however is the boss in the second world. I could easily get stuck there sometimes and there is no way of defeating it if this happens: [This is what happens; click to see]. The glitches largely swayed the hack in the direction to rejection but my verdict is a bit conflicted. Still, the glitches are quite major and need attention so I would suggest getting testers to test your hack if you are not willing to test the rest of your hack.

Difficulty: Despite some unusually difficult parts, I would go along with Normal.

As for the verdict, I would say that I am going with rejection mainly due to the glitches present in this hack. I consider them almost game breaking (especially that boss one). If the boss problem was not present, I would have accepted it with a suggestion for an update but I have to go with rejection as the glitches do not give a good representation of this hack. Good luck fixing it and I hope you take into consideration what I have said about the palettes in certain areas.
Corrections are completed, I await the final verdict
after I'll post the corrected version

^ Claimed the submission as free, you can edit it with an updated IPS with all the fixes, and I'll remoderate the fixed version of the hack.

No need to wait for a solid verdict to fix your hack. Let me know when you're done updating it.

* [1] [2] [3] Yeah, it ruins the fun as I probably was supposed to throw shells at the piranha to eventually kill it.

Those two are still happening because there's a level with Yoshi in the hack when I thought you got rid of him. This one if you wonder.

I'll keep my previous verdict of acceptance, but please don't include Yoshi on your hack as he can cause glitches you aren't aware of.
Difficulty should be Normal as I've stated before.

Claimed submission as free in case you want to update the IPS again.
So yoshi not part of my hack
and corrected version is posted

But you have to remove the Yoshi so there won't be glitches caused by him anymore. Please do this public service for us, it'll give your hack more chances to get accepted.

This may be useful to fix that bug.

The return to this hack!

I gave this hack a quick replay in the areas where I found the issues (specifically for the glitches) and I must say that some of them are fixed now which is great. I was a bit disappointed you did not take my other advice of fixing some of the unusual palettes (example: Dark Forest - the foreground of it) but that isn't a major issue so I can overlook that. What bothers me the most now is quite minor but they are graphical glitches such as the ones with Yoshi and the tiles of the berries. They are not severe enough to cause rejection of the hack but I would like to see them fixed.

Difficulty: Normal (no change)

I guess I can accept it now since the major things (such as that boss) are now fixed but I would like an update to correct the existing issues such as the berries and Yoshi. Good luck on them if you decide to fix it!
So well yeah. I some improvment.
Not gonna write a long review on this one, since I think I already made my point in the first review.
I see that you removed the Yoshi from Yoshi's house (Welcome) so I guess that would fix all the Yoshi related problems. The levels still seem nice and mostly pleasant enough.

So yeah, I'll go along with accepting this now.
Difficulty remains at normal.

This hack is really very good, excellent level design, the main overworld is very well built as well as the world 2 and 3, my verdict i accept this hack, Good Job, continue like that

Mirann-note: I'll +1 this review, but next time try to be more constructive in your review, it'll help the author more.

I don't have much to say other than I'm really happy you've fixed the issues in your hack, so great work on the hack. I'll look foward for the finished version of it!

Now I can give a solid verdict that the hack should be accepted.
Even though I don't really need to mention it again, difficulty keeps at Normal.

Good luck on the future when working on the hack.
Played this again.

I can confirm that pretty much it is completed and the issues that were present are now completely eliminated. Well done for that! Good job on everything and thanks for creating such a good hack to enjoy. I wish you the best of luck in the future for SMW hacking. Thank you for creating a happy face here.

Difficulty: Normal (no change)

This is ready to be accepted now.
Nice update here.
I'm happy to see most of the issue mentioned have been fixed, which is obviously good. I would have appreciated if you worked a little bit more on some palettes, but it's not a big matter. Nothing much to say, since both level design and aesthetics kept unchanged, as well as the difficulty, which is still normal.
My verdict didn't change either, so... approved. Nice job, keep going~
