Where do I find the text that is in these circles?

Found in "doc_offsets". They're located at offsets 02D5F8 - 02D6AF. You need to use a hex editor to change these.

In the hex editor, it reads " reaches level"
02D611 - "Max HP"
02D629 - "Attack"
02D63F - "Defense"
02D656 - "Mg.Attack"
02D66D - "Mg.Defense"
02D687 - " learns" and ""03 01 2E"" (spell name w/ quotes)
02D697 - "Get a Bonus!"
02D6A4 - "Choose one!"

I'm making a boss fight, and it will attack fine, but how would I make it do a different attack when you hit it with Jump?

EDIT: Never mind, don't really need it. However, whenever I defeat the boss, the game just stops, and I don't know what to do.

Hello RainbowShell,

If you want the enemy to attack a certain attack after a jump, use the "If attacked by spell" command.


If the game stops, it means that there is no command to tell the game what to do when the boss is defeated.

Are the Ameboid enemy's attacks hardcoded? I try to change its script and it just does random stuff.

I know I keep asking lots of stuff, but how do I make it so when you do Preview Battle, you have items too? Would be good for testing difficult bosses (the preview battle doesn't appear to allow items)

That's okay. ^^

For testing boss with Items, A workaround would be to put the boss in a level so you can collect the items you want to try with before facing him... The trouble with this is you'll need to do a little bit of event scripting...


Concerning the ameboid, what are you changing exactly?

Basically I'm just making it do Viro Plasm, then if it's alone it does Hurricane (Sand Storm) and Psycho Plasm. Instead it seems to attack like the original. I've also had this problem with other enemies.

EDIT: What are the event numbers to add characters to the party?

My belief is that there something in the script of the attack(sand storm for example) that's linked to a sprite sequence number. Notice the sprites has many sequence possible in the sprite section?

It's a guess by the way, since I've not messed with animation script yet.


For the event number to add characters to the party, go to the event script editor. CHange the "Action script" on the up left corner to "Event script". You should find the party member category on the right.

Okay, so in my hack, I have an archaeologist. After the final boss you earn an item that you must take to him to examine, but how do I make it so he does one set of commands when you have the item (just that item, not any old item), and another set of commands when you don't?

Sorry about the delay, I thought I replied you.

One way you can do that is to store this item in the special items(Make the coin value 0 of this item 0 in the item editor). Then, while you give the player this item, make some fancy memory manipulation with the memory commands so you can set one memory at a certain value during the storing action.(Let's say "X" for the explanation)

For the archaelogist, you'll need to check the value of the memory.

If t's not X, then it will do one thing.
If it's X, then it will do one another thing.

So I was playing around with some animation scripts. I've done a few new attacks, but when I was changing the script for Drain Beam, I got an error message, and now I can't open that animation. What can I do to get that working again?
