K-16 looks like a total cutie now! #w{=3} Good job Eevee
There's a lot of contrast between the old and the new K-16, because the new one has more "realistic" body proportions, while the old one has that chibi-ish head.
I personally prefer the new one by far, better shading and better details #smw{:TUP:}
As promised, here's Anna's new sprite. Unlike with Sicari and K-16, I have also reworked her palette, as before it was too saturated in contrast with her actual design. I've also redone her fire palette.

Yes, the sprite is more compressed, however I felt this was necessary to bring across what I wanted to and personally I'm happy with how it looks. Originally her sprite was taller than Sicari and K-16 which was both inconsistent and incorrect as she is meant to be younger and smaller. Keep in mind that characters will appear alongside one another in cutscenes and a giant Anna would be nothing but odd. Here are the redrawn characters side by side:

Yeah it makes sense that Anna's smaller now, I mean she's a kid after all! She's way better now, I like her new palettes, especially the blue one for some reason #wario{<3}
Back to showing off levels, here is "Portals to Hell" which is a remake of the original hack's "A Doomed Land?"







Unlike in the original, in addition to the crystals that have appeared as a result of the opening portals, it would only be fitting if the portals themselves appeared, as you can see in the screenshots. They do as you expect, spawning enemies from Demonia itself. Some portals could even be accessible, who knows? ;)

Here is a comparison between the original and remade version of the level: straight off the bat you will notice i opted for a different colour scheme this time.

The levels look good. But I keep forgetting to say this, well not really, because it sounds stupid. But the new K-16 sprite looks, uh... naked? I know, it's the color of her dress, but it has to do with the outlining, near the legs.

After seeing those new crystals I can't really believe those old ones were crystals too. Looks sexy, and, uh, like actual crystals lol. Good job!
If I can give you a suggestion, I'd make the brightness HDMA less dark. I learned this from my own experience as well, but starting brightness HDMA from total black kinda limits screen view a bit (even if it's from the bottom). I'd suggest you to start your code from a non-total black brightness setting (which you can set on the hdma tool).
I was also wondering how fancy it would look if the layer 3 crystals were transparent... have a try?
The rest is awesome though. The new stage is so much better than the old one overall. Continue like this.

Your remastered levels are so good, you're making the old ones look bad, heh. That's an actual good thing, shows how good you got. Really liking those new gfx!

That's actually funny because I suggested the exact same thing on irc for this level, a while ago. Though I remember her saying that they looked too bright or something?? But that's because LM uses color addition to make layer 3 transparent. Maybe they'd look good with color subtraction?

iirc, that's the UberASM code to make layer 3 use color subtraction. Untested though, so use at Sicari's own risk!

I'm aware that in 70% of cases, switching from normal to translucent makes layer 3 look like "OMG TOO BRIGHT AAAAA BAN!!"; thus, just darkening the colors used could potentially work. I don't think extra asm is really needed in this case, unless Eevee doesn't like the final result. #tb{:p}
From now on, I'm not showing anymore new levels, as I want to leave some things to your imagination ;>

Instead here's a lengthier post about a variety of cosmetic changes I've been making to the hack.

Firstly, you'll know that my character designs have changed a lot in the past year or so. Despite this, many instances of my old character design have lingered in the hack, which is of course very inconsistent. I've finally went ahead and replaced some of these instances.

Here is a before and after of Niscura in the intro:

She obviously looks a lot less goofy now, with smaller eyes and smaller cheeks.

The other ones I'm showing here are Sicari and K-16's mugshots in the corner of the overworld.

Old is on top, new is on the bottom. As was with the change to Niscura, smaller eyes, smaller cheeks, and with that more detail.

On the subject of the overworld, I have changed that too - redrawing the trees to look more like trees and redrawing the mountains to look less scribbly. Along with that, I've added the names of certain locations throughout Paradia to make this feel more like a paper map.








Finally today, I'd like to show off some new and improved HDMA effects in certain places:

Really liking the palettes and HDMA in the levels. Also the new character art for the intro sequence and OW looks great, probably most noticeable with the OW mugshots.
I really am loving those backgrounds, they look amazing! Top notch stuff there. Those mugshots are also really good for L3.

Goodjob, I notice alot of the changes help create a better atmosphere for the world. :3

I like the edits made for Niscura but I think you should also change the palette for the hands since they seem a little odd.

The mugshots are a great improvement, much cuter!

O and I love how the map looks.
when I think things cant get better, here comes eevee improving even more!
