For the past year, I've been playing with the idea of redoing a big chunk of SMWCP. As many people know, the hack has a fair number of flaws (especially compared to its successor, SMWCP2). Most of what comes to mind is:
-item babysitting (also known as "carry this P-Switch halfway through the level and pray something happens").
-generally sloppy design.
With SMWCP2 stuck at the end of its development cycle, nobody can really help out with it anymore. I thought now would be a better time than ever to kick off the "improve SMWCP" project. For our first step, I'd like to direct your attention to the other thread in this forum, the "discussion" sticky.
