The Shrine

Standard

Im currently working on a hack called "The Shrine", its gonna be a pretty mystic and serious hack and I've already got some level to show you guys and I would really like to hear what you think of it!

http://www.directupload.net/file/d/3691/snn8i3lv_gif.htm

All GFX made by me so far!

Dont pay attention to the unfinished Wario GFX in the bottom left Corner, it was a test and this hack will contain a completely remade and non-mario related character!
I like the palette here, except for the white in the bg which is too bright and kinda detracts from the overall dark vibe of the other colors. Also you should probably edit the palettes of the bushes and the white temple type thing (I forgot what their called exactly) as they don't quite fit in with their original palettes. The colors of the water in the fg also need some fixing. I don't know if you want it to be brown or if that's some kind of limitation you ran into, but if you can't make it blue (or don't want to) at least adjust the white to fit the rest of the colors a bit better.
You also have a bunch of cutoffs in there and while some people don't really care about them there are just too many here.
What's weird about the ground exgfx is that you only edited the normal ledge and not the rest of the grass tiles, so most of it is still the original gfx15, not sure if this is just a wip though.
That said I raelly like the animation of the water in the bg.
The level design on the other hand seems pretty bland. You only have one enemy in what looks like about 5 screens, which is going to be rather boring to play through. Again, I'm not sure if this is on purpose to create a kind of lonely atmosphere, but if not then please add some more enemies, even if it's just the first level.

Good luck, I hope my feedback kinda helped and wasn't too harsh #tb{:)}

btw do I know you from somewhere? EDIT: Ja, dass tu ich #tb{:p} Schön mal wieder von dir zu hören, ist schon ziemlich lang her.
Auch schön Dich mal wieder zu treffen, Underway.

Most of the work Ive done so far is editing the GFX, not creating an uber-Level. I will also edit the Graphics for the rest of the ground tiles.

There is also HDMA in the level, which cant be seen in the Screenshot because its in Lunar Magic view, so ingame there is still this dark vibe to it, although the BG might seem to be very bright here.

Yeah, there are cutofs, I know, i need to draw some specific tiles for that to be fixed, but I'll do detailed work like this later on.

There wont be very much Enemies, this level is supposed to feel a bit depressing, I'll add NPC's which tell you the background story and your intention of the adventure later on, when I am done with writing down the story.
Wow this hack actually looks very neat! I even like the animated water in the background

A first Video of the Beta Level. Many GFX need to be redrawn, I know.
I think I'll add more decorations to the foreground and the background.

The Music is made by me, sort of a redone Lavandia Town Theme, done in FL Studio. Was a lot of work to programm it into SMW, maybe I'll change the music, dunno let me know what you think of it.

Btw Underway, you really need to show me how you do your pallettes. They always look so smooth and fitting.
** UPDATE **

I created some Custom Music for my hack.

EDIT*
-- The music sounds a bit dirstorted here. This was not intentional, it doenst sound like that in-game!

https://copy.com/DanllijJ8LAx

The first music is for the title screen and an original by me.

The second music is for the Overworld, also an original by me.

The third music is for the first Level, this is a kind of "remixed" Lavandia Theme Version, so its not an original, but still, made by me.

This sounds very cocky, but I am so proud of it, especially because it took hours and hours to create and port them into the hack.

I am really looking forward to hear from you, let me know what you think!
*Push*

A Background/Foreground I pixeled for the Title Screen.

Broken image...

E: Oh, well that looks really nice; I like the texture you gave the structures, the lighting is good too (but the background ~> foreground lighting needs a bit of work).
That background looks terrible, though.
Also what's that brown thing in the middle?

Hey, it looks pretty good. Did you draw all of it?

The BG isn't finished yet, it needs a lot of work, I know.
I'll add way more decorations to it, like Tree tops etc.

The brown thing in the middle.... just wait until I release some story information (:

@Lynnes:

Yeah, was a lot of work, I am glad that you like it!
Wow, that's pretty nice, you've got talents. I actually don't like it, sadly, but I have no idea why. #tb{:?} I really don't know, but I guess it is because it isn't my style. Still, this is just my opinion, so keep it up!
You think it looks nice, but you don't like it? Well that's an awkward opinion :D
But ty anyways!
I know right? Pretty much everything I say/do is awkward #ab{:LOL:}

Well, I think it looks nice, and very well made, but it just is not my style. Your graphical style is way different than mine, I think.
