Frauber's website which includes links to many helpful asm related things and hacking docs, would probably be a good idea to include.

You sure like pretending to run this forum, don't you?

I'm not pretending to run it, I'm just telling him what you should have included on the first post. You did this so good topics will be found easily right?
While I created this thread to get rid of complaints about useful threads on this forum being buried, I see no reason to limit it to only this forum. Messiaen's page counts as a useful resource just as much as Bowser64 does.

I know a fair bit of C++, but I can't find any thread created by Kazeshin that looks like it contains any tools. Post the link and I'll take a look.

What tool? You're talking about his script editor? Is the source even available for it? Also, Kaze uploaded his most stuff on Rapidshare, which is now deleted. Someone should instead (in case no one has the source or kaze won't give it out) completely re-write it. (The information is available) I also didn't really like the way how he designed his stuff.

EDIT:
Script Editor Topic by Kaze

Here's his script editor. But the Rapidshare link is dead, obviously. (Never ever use RapidShare)

Kaze made tons of notes on multiple aspects of SM64 hacking. This is his google site.

Yes, that's what I meant. We have enough information available to re-make this tool and do some good GUI Designing aka make it more user-friendly and less buggy. I prefer to code this in C# (as many other tools such like the importer are coded in C#) but anyone may think different on this. I could do it, but currently I'm working on my CajeASM assembler for SM64, which takes a quite bit more time as I need to get familiar with the MIPS CP0 instructions, etc.

Oh of course, because if it's from another website, it's automatically useless and shouldn't be seen by anybody.

I got some that might be good for this or the faq thread

I'll soon be adding mem search functionality to b64 but in the mean time cheat engine http://www.cheatengine.org/ has been a valuable resource to me and it's probably the best tool out there for searching through and modifying memory (I'll probably add a little address conversion tutorial to my files later).

A behavior scripts guide http://file.s.gp/bhv.htm (unfinished).

A guide for the struct offsets in ram level objects http://file.s.gp/obj.htm (also unfinished)

A little gameshark code formatter for nemu's cheat file (since entering a gs code into nemu takes like a year)http://file.s.gp/nemugs.php

Direct link to Sketchup 7 download http://fs13.filehippo.com/8417/0e8e5cf9e7d248729d71f11428c992da/GoogleSketchUpWEN.exe

Direct link to sketchup OBJ exporter plugin (frauber's edit) https://sites.google.com/site/messiaen64/level-importer/ObjExporter.rb?attredirects=0

HxD, my favorite hex editor (can also edit ram, but you can't switch endianess) http://mh-nexus.de/en/downloads.php?product=HxD

RN64crc http://n64.icequake.net/mirror/64scener.parodius.com/tools.htm wonderful tool that checks/recalculates the checksums of n64 roms.

Actually, that version of the Obj exporter is rather outdated and can't export texture maps...I've uploaded an updated version of the plugin here. I saved the trouble of having to register free just to download the original link. It comes with a readme on how to install it along with credits to the original author TIG from Sketchucation.

I also have a video tutorial on how to prepare SM64's rom if that helps any. It can go to the Help Thread's FAQ.
Flame, I followed the instructions about installing that extension, installed it, but now where is the button to actually export it? I'm very confused lol, i've checked all the tabs.

If you have anything for the FAQ, you can PM Skelux if he isn't online PM me, Thanks for contributing.

I sent you a PM, I don't wanna get off-topic. I may have to update the readme and reupload.

Yes, I'll do that. Skelux may not be on because of time zones, so I may just PM you instead.

I think you can better PM Alcaro or CPUhacka107 instead of cackletta, they are mods.

I didn't know this thread was called "Useful Threads".

I thought it was "Useful Resources".

I guess he enjoys being in the middle of everything, or whatever.

But yeah, it's better to contact the ones that can actually do something.

Now to figure out how to categorize shyguyhex's stuff...

edit: oh, and regarding Kaze's tool: Without the source code, there's nothing I can do.

edit2: Most of shyguy's items were added, but I skipped a few:
HxD because we have it in the tools section, and there aren't very many tasks hex editors are useful for.
Checksum fixer because FAQ suggests that level importer can fix that; I'd prefer having one tool for each purpose, if possible.
Cheat Engine because it's hard to find which address in the program's address space points to which address in the emulated console. Make an easy enough tutorial and I'll add it.

<blm> zsnes users are the flatearthers of emulation
I wrote up a little tutorial/address converter for cheat engine here
http://bin.smwcentral.net/u/25323/CE.html
If there's anything I should clarify, lemme know and I'll update it

Sounds good. It really needs some rewrite.
