Description:version 2.0 of every level lemmy! it's a hack inspired by Nimono.

original story: mario was having his summer vacation, when suddenly, lemmy thwarted in and took over the land. he made clones of himself and mario needs to get rid of him.

contains an easter egg level with exgfx.




fixes:

-some palettes that did not match each other/needed to change.
-each fight with lemmy has a different setup.
-a severe issue with the map16 in the last castle level.
-music in certain levels.

The idea is... meh.
Even if you tried to make them slightly individual, there is only so much you can do to differ them. So in the end, it's basicly still the same ol' fight over and over again.

However the levels were done fairly nicely. The decoration seems to be well balanced between to little and overdecorated. In underground levels, it's a bit lacking with only those "dots" in the wall as the only decoration but other than that, well done.
The palettes seemed good for most parts. There were some instances where the palettes felt a little "extreme" to the point that they don't look too good anymore.
Maybe you also want to cut a bit more short on the coins. I see coin trails even in some really unneeded instances here and there.
I also think, and maybe I just saw it that way, that the number of power ups increases as the game goes on. In the first level for example, there were hardly any powerups.
There is also that thing with your midpoints. You seem to be a bit inconsistant when placing them. Sometimes they are right before the boss, sometimes there comes more after them. Sometimes they come sooner, sometimes later...
Lastly, it could be that I just missed it but where is Yoshi? I need him for the secret exit and all but I have no idea where to get him.

Now for some screens:
[1] When entering a pipe, you should also come out of one.
[2] The bottom tile of midpoints are glitchy. You should either get the fixed graphics or sink them one tile into the ground.
[3][4] Priority issues.
[5] Glitchy background at midpoint entrance.
[6] Same battle as in the first level.
[7] Honestly, I think these blocks look just silly.
[8][9] You shouldn't place object next to pipes. When Mario enters them, he'll go behind the layers. Also, are these graphics meant to be used together, because I think those land graphics on the left and the SMB2 graphics class horribly.
[10] Desync midpoint... actually, I think all your midpoints do that, but here it's plain visible.
[11] These palettes don't look too good I think.
[12] Glitchy underwater spike hurt frames. Use the fix patch.

I do remember this hack, you submitted an earlier version not too long ago, ya?~

So let's see...level design is good. It's always fun to go trough and the ideas you used for each section is really well done. The thing that matter me is the difficulty curve (I remember addressing this in the old version too): basically, earlier levels are harder, while the latter ones seem easier (if you don't consider the boss battles of course; those seemed good balanced). Beside this little niptick of mine, the level design is enjoyable; nothing exceptional, but it's not bad.

Aesthetics are very well varied: it's good to see that each level/sublevel has its own palette, it contributes making the overall pretty original. They're not perfect, and, of course, some of them doesn't look this good (the pic Jack linked is an example). Besides this, I'm leaning toward a positive response for the aesthetics, I appreciate the fact that each level is unique, so good job.

Misc issues, these bothered me a bit about the final verdict, but heh. A major error I found is this: player will be stuck forever in this level if the he/she gets the checkpoint and dies for some reason. Again, always doublecheck your levels, and make sure the midway point position works correctly. Another, smaller issue I found is in here: if you put a coin over a question block/note block, if you hit it from below it generates an invisible solid block on it. I think there's a patch/hex edit that fixes this, so either fix it or just remove the coin on the note block.

Difficulty is normal overall, easy-normal.

Due to the major midway point position issue, I'm leaning toward rejection. Fix it, as well as the errors other reviewers will point out, and I'm sure this hack will be acceptable.
This hack felt a little long to me, but that's because I played it late at night while I was really tired (kind of like right now).

But this hack needs a few fixes. First off, the lemmy fights feel not a whole lot different from each other, it made it a bit boring.

The levels on the other hand are great, the design and palettes are nice, and are fun to play.

I also like the ExGFX level you put in as a secret, not like you to do that.

And where in the world is yoshi? I couldn't find him no matter how hard I looked.

My final verdict is rejection until you fix these other problems

the issue with yoshi not appearing at all in the hack was because i deleted him from the hack, as his tongue would normally glitch-up when placed on a lemmy battle. now, i'll have to design the secret exit a bit differently, since i forgot all about it ever since i deleted yoshi. the secret exit will use a different gimmick, without having yoshi. an update will come soon!

Oh god!

I'm pretty sure you had put a lot of work in this hack.
Level design is really nice, palletes are amazing(a bit dark btw).
the problem i had found in this hack is glitches. Such as midway gates , why instead of assembly then by yourself you don't use Extended Objects?
the hack also is very long, is nice by a point of view but annoying by other.
Because all the stages you fight Lemmy. But they have a minimal difference.
This is annoying but is the idea of the hack. The OW also is really nice!
Verdict : I'am going to reject this hack due to glitches and level issues(the yoshi)
Difficult : is Normal, a bit of hard due to the long levels.
General : Fixing the glitches is all you need to make this acceptable.

Also i'm putting a few Screenshots that nobody(unless the first and the midway gate ones) pointed out but i guess should be shown.

actually, i always use the extended objects section to insert the midway points, so i don't know what's causing the problems, but i'll be sure to fix it soon.
