Mario vs. the Fourth Wall (Final SMW Kaizo)

There was one time months ago when I said that there would be one day where I would make a final Kaizo SMW hack. (Key word is "SMW". That doesn't necessarily mean "platform hell things in general").

Well, this is that hack I was talking about. If you're wondering about Luigi's Challenge, I think I am far enough along on it already that losing all motivation to work on it is unlikely, just taking a break from it right now. Other than that and Nadafinga (which I'm also taking a rest from), I feel like my interest in fiddling with SMW has hit an all time low. That, combined with many other more appealing things on my mind and the feeling of needing to be more at peace. So just in case of such a feeling I decided to start something to end my SMW Kaizo saga on a high note. I also don't wanna feel like rushing.

This is a return to my “signature” design style that Nadafinga sought to be a break from. It will consist of an insanely long level followed by a shorter level featuring the hack’s main villain. Right now I don't have very much that is in a presentable state, mostly just testing out set-ups involving stuff from Blockreator and something else.

Might not update real super often since I don't want to show something I won't end up using. I'm also not sure of a beginning yet, but I've already worked on the very end some.
Unlike many other "themed" room levels, this one will at least attempt to transition between rooms either in terms of setting or gimmick.

That's a legit hack that you're working on there!

Points for style on the on/off munchers, and the DK barrels (?)! There isn't much that I can say on that, so I am looking forward to what comes in the near future.

I guess Mario was p*ssed (in the 1st screenshot with the storyline)..

It's a shame you're not interested in SMW hacking anymore, but it's understandable especially with the pressure.
I understand the feeling that such hacks are more tiresome to work on than the average hack you'd see here. At least, you'll be at peace after completing all of your Kaizo hacks without feeling much pressure.

This hack is very nice. Looks like the ON/OFF munchers could be abused in some sort of way like you showed here (and nice graphic for the non-solid state too). I'll be looking forward to see this hack finished in the near future!

Also, since I finally found the framal blocks, I am thinking about including a room with those disappearing Megaman blocks and taking it to unreasonable conclusions!
It's too early to predict the difficulty range but I kinda want to to be at least as difficult as God Painful.

I like the ON/OFF floating munchers really, I don't see a problem there. Although if you're gonna use the framal blocks, you should do the munchers that appear and the disappear like in C|C, Kazu kaizo, and World of pain.

For names, I really like Soko must die, but I suggest something like "the finale".

I look forward to more of this.

The idea is pretty cool actually. It kinda differs from the normal floating munchers we see nowadays. :P

As far as the name goes, I have no idea which of those four names fit better because I'm terrible at naming things, and one that I thought about is "Mario Kills the Creator", whose purpose is already mentioned in the prologue and is repurposed in this hack.

Even tho it may be a bit early, I think I might feel like putting this on pause and do a little more planning (maybe officially decide whether or not I even wanna finish it) rather than blindly insert every block I can that might seem even remotely usable. My emulator seemingly glitching out combined with this thread just make me not wanna even think about this right now. Not sure when I will return tho. Doesn't even help that I was slightly more than mildly excited about this to begin with.

Revisiting this for the time being.
I think I've got the name narrowed down between "Mario's Final Doom" and "World War M."
Some screenies:

Simple custom block that hurts Mario every few seconds, like the poison gas house from VIP 2.

Now to find a way to make the player have to prevent Yoshi from eating the football. The screen can scroll vertically and you have to take advantage of that.

Some unused levels I had sitting around.
I've been thinking I might soon want to get to a point of resource lockdown and just focus on the level design from that point on since I don't want to find myself endlessly exploiting every creative use of Blockreator blocks/other custom blocks and never get done, and whatever blocks I have inserted is what I get.

"Mario's Final Doom" doesn't seem very creative. I like "World War M" better, but I think there could be a better name for it. Anyway, I like that first screenshot; although I'm not figuring out what's going on in the others.
