Trying to make a shooter level...

Okay so, I know I asked a similar question to this a while back, but I figured it's worth a shot to try asking in a more clear way.

I'm making a shooter type of level, and I'm using the marine pop. My question is, if there's a way I can make the torpedos deal fireball damage, rather than killing enemies instantly.

A different sprite that acts like fireballs(but can shoot straight) would work too. I tried using the projectiles from the custom fire and thunder powerups, but they collide with the marine pop itself as soon as they shoot, so that didn't work.

I would really appreciate some help here.
