I didn't get too far, but I'm starting to get the hang of this.

Here are a few pics, just to get an idea:

The water is there to start out in a safe-ish environment (aside from the fact that that specific part could get ridicolous without it).
That background palette is gorgeous and so is the design so far. The variety of sprites here is really superb, and given your past history with designing, I have no doubt this is going to be interesting.
The atmosphere is lovely. It's amazing how good-looking you can make a level look in YI with some clever tileset and palette work.
Thanks guys. I've got some more progress to show in the meantime:

More dodging, destroying sand blocks and stuff. It gets trickier as you go on.

I also have a preview of the next few sections (at least visually):

I like the use of the Monkeys so far. Not only are they threatening from a pure enemy standpoint, but the fact that you've thrown in sand blocks means you need to deal with them quickly.

(also, yes, it does indeed look visually awesome.)
Pics of the week:

Things get quite tricky here. Better hold on your eggs and move very carefully.

(it is also really tricky to balance the sequence of obstacles)
Today I present you with: obligatory mini-challenge rooms:

I'm amazed at how much time I spent setting that up. Though, I'll probably make one or two more because it's fun.
This is super creative, even though PinBall sucks.
This puzzle looks really creative. I think a flower/1-UP would be a good enough reward. Good job with this.
Today I decided you can try playing half the level.

The first three doors at the start are just for testing: one is a bonus room, the second one leads to the first mid-ring, the third one leads to a completely unfinished section. Also the section after the mid-ring is filled with test setups.

Stuff you can collect so far:
level 22 (first section):
5 red coins, 16 stars, 2 flowers

level 59 (second section):
sorry nothing (also made you look)

level AC (bonus room):
5 stars, 1 flower
The first area is great, but the room with the pinwheel is extremely long, tedious, and not particularly fun after the first 50% of it or so is over. I think you need to cut everything after the last cactus spitting plant.

Not much else to say aside from that. Huh.
Yeah, I myself couldn't get past the first pinwheel most of the times (and the rest was just testing how tedious it could possibly get (I'm sorry if you spent time trying to get past that)). Plus, getting hit on that pinwheel thing is annoying because yoshi becomes unresponsive and, more often than not, you inevitably end up falling in the lava pool. Perhaps I could raise the pinwheel a bit if I wanted to keep a small part of that, but we'll see.

(also I will make more progress after the 10th).
New version

The second section of level 59 is more or less completed (and I removed the pinwheel).
If you've already played the first section, you may want to enter the first door to skip to the second section (I didn't really change anything).

Stuff you can collect so far:
level 22 (first section):
5 red coins, 16 stars, 2 flowers

level 59 (second section):
6 red coins, 8 stars

level AC (bonus room):
5 stars, 1 flower

Also pics

I might (finally) finish the level within a week or two.
- snn don't poison my pizza
- post your idol votes

Anyway, I'm really close to being done. For the final challenge (before the boss) we have HELICOPTERS also more koopas because hookbill

Also new kill room (you get a flower)

And I've changed the FG palette of the second section (same as third (it's the same sublevel))

BPS when I'm done. Soon™

lol
As I promised.

I might also post a video but it's late, so maybe tomorrow (today).

Collectables:
level 22 (first section):
5 red coins, 16 stars, 2 flowers

level 59 (second section):
6 red coins, 5 stars, 0 flowers

level 59 (third section):
9 red coins, 0 stars, 1 flower

level AC (other rooms):
0 red coins, 5 stars, 2 flowers

level 86 (boss room): nothing

Enjoy
I actually have nothing major to complain about. I think the helicopter part is quite challenging, and it might benefit from having one more helicopter bubble somewhere, but on the whole it's still very doable on the first shot. I'm going to mark this level as complete, and if anyone else has any issues with it, they can feel free to post here.
