Tip: Take advantage of easy to install Patches in your hack. For example, the Classic Piranha Plant fix should be considered if you are planning to insert that sprite in your hack.

I really hope I don't get banned for this. I apologize if I'm really stepping out of line here.

Occasionally I've noticed the moderators (And Admins, don't deny it) can be really sarcastic and rude sometimes. But this could also be just me because I misunderstand stuff when its not intended to be rude. If that's the case, please bare with me.

First, here's a little quote:

Wonder what it does.

I absolutely understand why he (She?) banned him, I'm not defending him in any way, but did you really have to say that? You could've just said "Look, you've been warned several times to stop doing what you're doing. Thats a ban.", but no. You had to be a smart ass about it.

I know this may seem like a personal issue, but I've noticed similar behavior from other moderators (Admins too...), but the cases I'm referring to are more of when they get annoyed about something.

While I do get that it frustrating that people (Myself included, I admit) complained because we were too lazy to convert at the time, that was just kinda stupid.

Again, this may look like all personal issues with people, but this kind of shit really bugs me. And if the staff decide to ban me for this, it better be a damn good reason.

And you know, people take this stuff differently than I do, so please bear with me if I'm just being stupid.

My point exactly.
It would help if you linked those posts you quoted.

Staff aggressiveness was a bigger thing in the past years, I haven't seen much recently, or maybe it's just because I don't pay much attention to the staff anymore. I didn't find that first post offensive at all, just a comic way to say "you're banned". The second one though is pretty much the internet equivalent of punching someone in the face because you don't agree with them (even if you're right), or at least it's as effective as that if you want to convince someone.

Nobody is going to ban you for that post, but don't get much hopes if you're trying to change anything.

Yes, we always ban people for expressing personal oppinion and not agreeing with our methods. [/sarcasm]

Also, you seem to completly have missed the point of what Ladida said.

Anyway, if you find my sarcastic comments (including the one above) to be offensive, I appologize. But I also think there is a difference between being an ass and just having fun from time to time (not on the actull cost of people though).

Taking the quoted example, what's so bad about me banning him like that? He's been warnened and if he doesn't get it to that point I see no further use in discussion. Plus it's a rereg anyway.

Same goes gor S.N.N. quote. I don't see what's bad about it. It's just a more fun way of saying people should update because it's better for them and why "being lazy" is a silly excuse here.
There are times when you have to act serious but as Ladida said... No fun allowed? We are people too you know :D

I personally think you're being a bit overly sensitive. There's really nothing wrong with being sarcastic and acting like a "smart-ass" once in a while, and besides, it doesn't happen that often anyway.

Funny, I have always enjoyed the sarcasm from the staff. I guess different people view things differently though. In your second quote, what SNN said was actually quite appropriate in my opinion as the context in which it is said allows for no claims of being unclear.

I have honestly never seen any staff member ban a person for offering legitimete criticism of the site or how it is run so you are pretty safe in posting this thread.

This is actually kinda true.

Some of these people have been on the staff for years and have had to deal with literal 12 year olds saying and doing stupid shit constantly. I'm surprised they dont crack more often.

It's easier to ban the dumb millennidumbs anyway, you guys are lucky they aren't meaner.

You're more than free to offer criticism to whatever thing a staff member might say, no worries.

The first quote was a way to say that someone was banned and, in this case, the offender was warned several times about what he was doing, although Jack could've been a bit less sarcastic when making that post. The second quote might have been more sarcastic on SNN's part, but at least by that post he meant that to the people that were against AMK and only want to stay with older emulators and music insertion tools; updating to a more recent version is always better to avoid future bugs your hack could have.

So yeah, regarding the first quote, not every staff member will sound "cool" when you do something that's against the rules. As such, I don't find anything wrong with being sarcastic once in a while, as long as it doesn't drag on too far. Don't get much hopes for a change in the near future.
So I was right, I was just taking it the wrong way. I get what you guys are saying, ad thank you for the responses.

Also, hooray for free expression!

The SNN quote was actually aimed at me EDIT: Not, silly memory... And it still pisses me off, because all the shit he said isn't true, but since he's an admin I can go fuck myself, right? The latest AM4 does work on real hardware, isn't buggy, and there's no problem with command line tools. On the other hand, AMK... I don't think I'm even allowed to complain anymore. AMK isn't objectively better than AM4, and removing all the previous versions of the songs from the music section without any sort of backup was ridiculous.

It makes me cringe so much when moderators and admins are being smart-asses and stuff.

Exaggeration or not, the whole point of what he was trying to say was that AMK is better and there is no reason not to switch over. Besides, from what I've heard, AMM and AM4 are more buggy (whether slightly or very much applies isn't really the point, "bugginess" is bad either way) than AMK. And about the command line thing, with AMK you have an option to either use a graphical interface or a command line (IIRC), while with those two, you have to use it as command line (AFAIK).

EDIT: Just found the news page you are referring to. I'm pretty sure it wasn't directed at you.

Exactly right.

One other reason I may have been lazy about it was I related this to google+ taking over youtube. Completely different here.
I personally have no problem with "smart-ass moderators". They make me laugh.
I like the cynical staff members more than the ones who are always nice.
