Hammer Powerup Dilemma

I have rigged my game up with the Hammer Bro Powerup found in the sprites section and it works fine but I need to know 2 things.

1) How do I change mario's outfit (gfx or just the palette) when he has it on?

2) Whenever I collect another powerup (flower, cape, etc) it stores a mushroom into the item box; How do I make it store the Hammer into the item box?

I really need help on this.
Just don't use it, it ain't worth it.
Use YY-CHR for editing Graphics.
Press #lm{pal} to change palettes.

The Hammer Powerup by default uses the standard Mario palette. I could edit it, but then the palette would always look like he's 'Hammer Mario'.

I need Mario a different color only when he gets the hammers.
The Alternate Mario ExGFX patch allows you to change Mario's graphics midlevel, which would allow you to give hammer Mario different graphics, and the Custom Mario Palettes patch does the same with palettes, although it's a bit more complicated to change them manually. Alternatively you could use Powertool instead; I'm fairly certain it both includes hammer Mario as a default and allows you to edit the graphics and palette for any powerup separately.

I found powertool and it works great! But there is a problem;

When the powerups appear, they either look like mushrooms or Feathers, however when they're in the item box or Mario is wearing them, then they look correct...

Poison Mushroom

Mushroom

Fire Flower

Hammer Bro Suit

The Fire Flower is fixed, both in the item box & when it's dropped from the item box

Hammer Suit is fixed (like the rest will be)

What can I do to fix this problem? I've seen them work properly in screen-shots. :/
Bump.

Anyone got a solution?
Are the blocks set to act like tile 129?
Yeah, did you put aim them to the block with a green shell?
Your custom blocks should act like it.

Err ahh 128 or 129 can't remember
I think there is some issue with the code that make the powerups dynamic, they probably look like feather because the graphics are not being transfered
If all else fails mate, you could try this perhaps.

I feel like this is correct. Sometimes the mushroom/feather GFX will even change (to the opposite between the two) just because another powerup leaves the screen.

I started off using that and I had an issue with it-- see my first post. ;P

Since I don't know asm I might be screwed-- every time I try this tool on a new ROM a breaks it too for some reason. #smw{o_O?} #smw{...}
#smw{-_-2} Derp!
For some reason, I thought I read something completely different.
I don't know why I thought I'd read that you started with Powertool. My bad.
