Tip: Avoid blind jumps. If the player has to jump down a random hole to proceed with no indication at all that they can go down there, you've done something wrong! Not logged in.

Welcome to ASM & Related Topics! In this forum, users are able to ask questions which focus more on the advanced aspects of SMW hacking which is mostly ASM. ASM includes stuff like blocks, sprites, patches and expanding SMW with new functionality.

Before you start posting in this forum, read the following guidelines carefully.

1) Please don't create ASM request threads
We had these before in the past, and they never worked out.

2) Please don't create "Is it possible to ... " threads
If you ask us such questions, the only way we can answer is "yes" or "no". For the sake of your own convenience and saving us and yourself time, write the actual question you want an answer for, something like "How do I do ..."

3) Separate threads for minor ASM questions are discouraged, but not forbidden
A "minor ASM question" includes basic ASM skills like learning what opcodes do, and how to utilize them to solve a problem (like looping through a table). Preferably ask in the ASM/Hex/etc help thread stickied if you'd like to know about them.

4) Please don't ask basic SMW hacking questions
Basic SMW hacking questions include things like non-ASM related questions, questions which can be answered by the readme of Lunar Magic, and so on. Put such questions in this forum instead.

5) No "Idea" threads
We already have a gigantic thread for ideas. Use this thread for all ideas.

6) Please do NOT post giant pieces of code in your posts.
Not only does it force us to scroll all the way down, but it also sometimes stretches the tables. If the code you're about to post is > 50 or so lines, then please post it on Pastebin and link us to the URL instead.

7) No "how do I make boss" threads, or any other enormous task when you have practically no knowledge on the subject.
You will ALWAYS be told to work with the simple stuff before you can give the more advanced stuff a shot.

8) Please don't repost to gain attention.
Reposting - that is, creating multiple threads or double posting in a thread for the same question to gain more attention - in this forum more than about 2 times will earn you a punishment of some sorts, and it will also make you look stupid. Same rule goes for the ASM/HEX/ETC help thread as well (unless you feel that your question genuinely got ignored after a few posts later)

Also, bear in mind these are simply a loose guide and punishments will not always follow these.

HOW TO APPLY ASM PATCHES:

For asar you can simply double click it and input your file names. A tutorial on how to use xkas patches can be found here.
