I know how to program and would like to make a simple smw tool so any requests.
A simple "spriteset" creator, similar to Kipernal's Sprite Set Editor tool for Yoshi's Island (second down the list), that outputs ExGFX files for SP3/4 with all the given (vanilla) sprites inside (in the correct slots, so it's usable).

Of course, SMW has this set up differently than YI, so the tool would have to make sure not to have any sprites overlap.

Your layout has been removed.
An sa1 patch converter.

+1 On this, PLEASE

A tool that make the Player's GFX change in a specific level.

Kudos to leod
yoshicop, there is a patch that will let you do that. A patch may not be as easy to use as a graphical tool is, but it shouldn't be too hard to get it up and running.
idk what to put here
a tool that lets you make tools

here you go

<blm> zsnes users are the flatearthers of emulation
@K3fka + yoshicop: There also is a tool; Dyzen. I'm too lazy to link it, http://www.smwcentral.net/?p=files&u=20832 you can find it there.
A sprite creator, I suppose. I thought there already was one in the works but who knows what happened to it.

@Gregor: I also thought about that; but I think it is a bit advanced. He said that he can only do simple tools. If he means simple as in SIMPLE SMW HACKING tools, he'll proably need help from those ASMer guys, but if he means simple as in SIMPLE TOOLS, I don't think he can do it.
Well, I'd love to see Tessera 2 actually get finished, but I don't know if you'd want to work on that.
I'd like a tool that makes custom sprites (not sprite graphics routine, I mean entire custom sprites)

What would Brian Boitano do?

anonimzwx is doing a Sprite maker.

Currently it only has a graphics routine generator, but eventually it will have a code editor.

I don't know how much user friendly it would be, you may want to ask him about that.
A tool that makes a custom scroll sprite, like autoscrolling or a layer 2 crusher, or maybe even both in one like Donut Plains 2.
A tool like EBMusEd for making music. The current one is just unacceptable.
it's the same thing, our ~fancy editor~ is just called notepad

You could use Layer 2 as a foreground and simply combine auto-scroll with Layer 2 commands. A bit of a pain to set up but it should do the job.

Not really. There is no preview button to know if I'm doing something wrong. That's my biggest complaint.

All you have to do is insert the .asm file into a ROM with the appropriate tool, open it up inn an emulator, and then test it.
