I was wondering if it was possible to make it so the effects of a star or p-switch don't end when going to a new area. I'm assuming it would require a patch.

I am not 100% on this so correct me if I'm wrong but if I remember correctly stars will stay in effect if you go through a pipe, so you won't have to worry about that, but I'm not so sure about doors. P-Switch won't stay in effect going through a door or pipe. I'm don't think there are patches for this, so the best thing you can do is give the player another star/p-switch. Hope this helps

Currently: Ripping off (what used to be) MercuryPenny's footer, which is also a rip off of someone else's footer, so... I don't know if I'm like stealing a footer sence im ripping of a ripped of footer but...meh. I won't worry about it, and also celebrating 1,000 subs on youtube :D and trying to beat nightmare mode on FNAF3 and 20 mode on FNAF 1 and 2
unfortunately they do not. It is a thing in mario 3 though. the main reason I want this is so I can put a changing item in one room and have the effect carry over to the next. so in this case having a star on the other end doesn't really work

It does indeed require a patch. Said patch is very simple though:

There's a slight issue, though. The P-switch music won't play in the new level. The effect will be there, and the "almost done" SFX will play right before it ends, but the tune itself won't. The star music appears to work fine, though.
The patch above comes from this thread, and I must warn you of some unintended side effects (depending on how heavily your ROM is modified) that result from such patches in addition to the P-Switch music not carrying over.

Just a little warning from my experiences as I did the same thing a few months back.
Is it possible to change the code to just allow the star to continue or do they both use the same code?
