I can't seem to find the thread where you guys had all the Kaizo and Pit submissions, but if you know of anybody who had a Pit hack which seems to meet our general standards completed and linked to in one of those threads and would like it officially hosted on SMWC, you guys are free to submit them so that we can have them formally archived if they meet the standard. In addition, please submit your own as well. (I do remember Moltov Mario World tried submitting his Pit of Despair in 2008 and I'd welcome that to be retried ASAP for a fair ruling.)

Remember, you must include an .SMV for Pit hacks. Remember also, these hacks will take quite some time to moderate.

The new "Kaizo: Hard" difficulty is considered to be harder than Kaizo Mario World, whereas "Kaizo: Light" is considered to be equal to or easier than Kaizo Mario World but harder than a standard SMW hack's "hard" difficulty.

The hack submission guidelines were recently updated with all this information added.

How am I so creative? I think taking walks might have something to do with it.
Every single level I will ever make in SMM2 will be easier than Ultra Necrozma.

Considering the nature of Kaizo hacks these days, I would consider Kaizo Mario World to be "Light" in terms of difficulty. It does make things harder in my mind to distinguish between the standard "Hard" difficult setting and the "Kaizo: Light" difficulty settting.
When including the smv for a pit hack, can it be a TAS, or does it have to be a tool-assisted walkthrough (TAW)? Because there are numerous TASes that exist for my pit hacks and I don't have the time to make a TAW myself. And does the TAS/TAW have to be my work, or can I use another TASer's smv?

My personal preference would be a TAW, since that would be the intended solution and would be most useful for both judgine and playing. Remember that the SMV isn't just intended for the judges, but also for the people who want to try the hack or see how it's done.

A TAS would probably be fine, though pointing out any breaks and flaws in your hack may not be the best idea, especially considering breaks are one of the current judging criteria for Kaizo hacks. It mostly depends on how obvious or extreme the break is, though. If it's skipping an entire room with a fairly simple idea, you probably don't want to show it (or even better, you should fix it), but if it's just skipping a section by a more difficult or unconventional means, it likely wouldn't cause problems.

Holy shit I forgot I made this thread until today

Anyways, as long as the .SMV proves the hack is beatable, it's fine to use. A TAW would be excellent for making it easier for finding problems which cause the hack to break or allow sequence-breaking but a TAS is enough to prove it beatable. All a TAW would do is save time for the moderator since it's that much easier to access things, but it'd cost the hacker a lot more time than just doing a TAS. Taking that into consideration, if you were completely certain your hack had no obscure fatal errors, then a TAS is the best for saving time overall.

To add to what Everest said: I would say that Kaizo Mario World itself is a borderline to determine whether some hack in question can be harder or easier. Of course, easier -> Kaizo: Light, and harder -> Kaizo: Hard. It's good that three (including Pit) more difficulties are made to determine hacks, because to just classify a hack as Kaizo is too broad.
I think the Kaizo:Light and Kaizo:Hard categories should be merged.

Pretty sure they were merged back when Kaizo hacks started to be accepted, and when pit hacks had the same fate, they were divided as they are currently, unless that's not what you meant. I suppose it is easier to distinguish one from the other at its state.
I'm working on a cool new kaizo hack and i'm trying to make a exit tile that takes you to the main world and it just glitches could you help me it would mean a lot thanks #smw{^_^}
This is not the thread for asking for help. Create a new thread in General Hacking Help or something.
