Tip: When determining a time limit, remember that players won't be as familiar with the level as you are. If you normally complete the level with the timer around 100, others might run out of time on their first try.Not logged in.

Yeah, those will be used again. Was already brought up on IRC if I recall correctly.
This may sound off-topic but I think it's relevant enough to be posted here.

I noticed whenever I grab the goal, there's suddenly some dreadful slowdown during the timer/score conversion and it appears to be a result of the SA-1 patch. That is the only patch I've applied so I'm pretty damn certain that's the cause. Is this a known byproduct of SA-1? And if so, is there something I'm overlooking to prevent this? There's absolutely nothing within the level's design that can be causing it. Besides, I've tested the level on a non-SA-1 ROM as well, and there is no slowdown.

Would this be something that can possibly affect judging? Technically, it's outside the parameters of the "playable" level. Otherwise, I can chuck the level onto a non-SA-1 ROM for judging if need be.

Really, just concerned about judging issues here. I'll hit up Vitor about the actual issue at hand though.

Probably not. If the level is alright I don't think you would get penalyzed by that.

Um, I also wanted to ask a few things: when I inserted the music into my level I forgot that there was included a patch to disable the P-Switch music. I do wonder if that's against the rules; I did use a P-Switch in my level, so I was wondering if it's okay or not.

Also, speaking of music, how many custom tracks would be allowed into a level? I think I'll include a boss battle into my level, and having a custom music for it would be cool.

Two songs are "probably sufficient" according to this post from S.N.N.. I'm guessing the 7th VLDC music will be inserted into the ROM from the start, so that might not count towards the two song allotment, I think?

Please tell me you didn't ban Confirm SMW from this contest after what he did last time.

BTW, I'm ConfirmSMW. :)

Ahahahahaha, although I do seem inhuman, I am still a human.

I have almost no social experience. Srsly.

Your life...do you deserve it?

I'll show you that you do because clearly, I'm the ****** devil here.
While the level was one of the worst ones, that's no reason for a contest ban.

I'm wondering. Since we'll use the SA-1 patch, are the random crashes on ZSNES a non-issue, considering it doesn't really support SA-1 and all? I encounter this when I test my entry on ZSNES, but rewinding back and doing the same thing gives different results.

I just figured to ask because it's something that bugs me.
I'm sorry to sound like an idiot, but I'm assuming that we're using the 6MB ROM Expansion, right?

*runs*

Currently: Bringing back the footer I had in 2013.

After speaking with Vitor, my earlier issue turned out to be ZSNES stupidity as well. However, if I'm not mistaken, most of the people who judge these contests typically use snes9x or Higan/BSNES (someone correct me if I'm wrong), so I doubt any of it will be an issue as far as that goes.

As far as the casual player after the fact though....
Whoever wants to play a hack that doesn't work well with ZSNES but is obsessed with keeping the interface can just use ZMZ.
My Apologies. I had forgotten all about this Contest. Nothing is done. Therefore, I have to do the one thing I hate...I am going to have to sit out on this Contest. I am sorry for this and I will try to remember this for Next Time.

Nonsense, you have plenty of time to finish. It's 2 weeks until the deadline, you can get started now and finish in about a week.

I'm curious - who are the judges?
I'm pretty certain that's supposed to be kept a secret for reasons I shouldn't need to be explain.

I am also slightly curious, but I am actually more interested on how many judges will this year's contest have. I think I remember some discussion last year about having some more judges because it will give more varied opinions and judgements of the levels?
Dang, only 20 submissions and we have like 2 weeks left? Wow, not a lot of interest like last year.

Expect about a hundred more in the last week of submission time.
There were around 60 submissions in the final week last year. I wouldn't worry about it.
