Fierce Deity Booth - Beta Hack and ASM Material

Welcome to Fierce Deity's Booth of crazy SMW Stuff! Here, I shall present you three cool SMW things, the third being the coolest at all!

1) Master Chuck Boss
Master Chuck is a boss I coded for world 8 of Mario's Enigmatic Tales. This 16x16 Chuck head will give a challenge for sure! Its attacks include fire breathing, fire rage, quakes and bomb throw!

Master Chuck in action.

2) Shadow, the Dark Mario Sosia
Another boss I coded for Mario's Enigmatic Tales, now for world 9. This shadow sosia of our plumber has some nasty attacks, the worst one being its fire shower!

Shadow in action.

3) This is the BIG one: I finally COMPLETED all the levels of Mario's Enigmatic Tales! I even released a beta for you to play and enjoy! But don't worry, I won't forget to code Peach for later, I swear. Now, the links for the hack:

Because Darkness and Misfortune #9 are awesome.

I could see that Master Chuck sprite being well used with the correct GFX (tbh, a Chuck head is kinda creepy). As for Shadow, I like the GFX and, well, I can see it was well coded, but there are too many (different) attacks going on: fire + magic + hammers + iron balls... It's a bit random... Some of these could be really hard to avoid too, especially when he goes shooting everything at once. I'm not much into ASM (yet) so I won't comment any further on this.

As for the Beta Hack, I really like your take on the "Vanilla" style with the ASM stuff and also how you managed to get things difficult without necessarily being unfair (although I still have this feeling I'll be having a really hard time on this hack). I'd actually prefer to wait until Peach is added, because I give priority to completed projects. But you can be certain that I'll be playing this when it's done, and I think it'll be a fun (and hard, heh) experience. Good job so far! #tb{:>}
I think the master chuck boss idea is good, however i think it should only take like 3 or 4 hits max to defeat.
When I reached World 2's Boss Room of your hack, the game crashed on me, black screen and ZSNES stopped responding as indications of the crash. For shame, as it is such a nice hack with some unique gimmicks I havent seen in other hacks till that moment.
Modern Redrawn Mario Bros. 1.5 (last update - February 14, 2023, some new bonus frames, tons of minor touchups to various poses)

On Pixel Art Requests: Depends on what it is and if I have the time for it. If its complex and I don't have the time, don't expect me to accept it.

Projects I support:

Heh, another very good hacker made by the user name :P
Bro, this one looks pretty good. I like how you made the hack vanilla but with some ASM touch, it gives a feel of a expansion of SMW, where while the graphics are almost the same, the feeling and the interesting factors are completely new. I will have sure to play this once my playing mood get back someday.

I'm aware of it. Try downloading it again, as I updated using, now, the PROPER bosses. I had to put custom bosses for mode 7 koopalings, so the game won't crash.

EDIT: Some SRAM: Get it here.

You know how I've been do damn waiting for this hack to be released! Though both links seem to have broken patches :(
As soon as it's working, I'm going to play it from scratch (since apparently I lost my old save), probably for the best since my mind is not that fresh on the latest demo.
This is probably my favorite vanilla-style hack, by the way. You implemented ASM gimmicks in a very good way through all of this. The final levels are something I've been expecting to play for a while, I'm curious to see if their difficulty's gonna keep me from beating 'em. ;)

As for the bosses: simple, as I probably stated at some point, but they definitely fill their task on being challenging and (apparently) fun at the same time. And after all, it's good to see unique bosses popping in every once in a while.
It's easily the best thing I've done
So why the empty numb?

Strange. I tested the patch and it worked fine... You can always retry to download and patch.

Now, for an annoucement: We will have, at some point, Mario's Enigmatic Tales 2! The story revolves about Mario trying to search 16 scattered keys across a totally new land, with more funky gimmicks to booth! And of course, there'll be HEAVY ASM. Bosses, sprites, Patches, as you like. Be prepared, the Enigmatic adventures are far from over... #smw{>:)}

You have no idea how I was already waiting for this hack to be released and so did everybody else! You implemented the gimmicks pretty well in a way that doesn't detract from the vanilla feel, and the bosses are quite unique to say so without being unfair, although I have to agree that Shadow Mario's attacks could be harder to avoid sometimes due to the way they are shot... It could be just me, however.

I'm gonna see if I can get past the final levels even with the harder difficulty taking over the scene, heh. This definitely needs more attention than it has already, that's for sure. #ab{;)}
Windowless ride, feeling alive
Are you alive or just breathing?
Alright, the patch actually worked, but the game crashed on Morton. D:

EDIT: derp, sorry. Apparently I got the wrong patch.
Enjoying going through all those levels again btw :3
