Tip: A common level trope to avoid is "item babysitting". This involves forcing the player to carry P-Switches, springboards, or other items all around the level. Usually, this doesn't end up being very fun or engaging, so use another level gimmick if you can.

See this thread for download and a quick tutorial on how to set it up.

This editor has quite a few nice features (small things, but are very helpful when designing levels): zooming, square/line tile placement, in-editor NPC codes and more. Keep in mind that it's only a level editor, though, and you still need to use SMBX to actually play levels.
So, due to SMBX's use of topics, that thread has now been archived. However, Wohlstand's editor now has its own site, which I think might be a tad bit more informative than that particular thread was.

Sorry if this is considered a bad necropost, but I thought that it wouldn't hurt to bring in some important information. Besides, PGE rocks! ;)
Yeah, it had its own site for 2 years now. And he created a new topic for his editor in SMBX forums 1 or 2 months ago.
