Welp...., I decided to go through with it.
I'm still on the fence whether I'm doing B.O.T.H. or not, but in the meantime, please enjoy Super Zelda Bros!

Story: Bowsanon has kidnapped princess Zeldstool and seized the Tristarforce Power from her.
It is now up to Larnkio and Luinki to rescue the princess and save Mushrule Kingdumb from being plunged into darkness and evil.

Screenshots:

Still need to unfuck those BG palettes and of course, draw a tile for that obviously missing peice.

Another tileset I've began drawing.
Don't worry, I'll get to shading it and making it more detailed.

EDIT: I almost forgot. I would like some opinions on the following image please.

Do you think this may confuse the player too much as to where s/he can or can't land?
Could it possibly be okay if I give the player enough time to grasp the concept in a non-threatening environment before heavy gameplay starts?

More to come. I feel as though starting a thread will get me moving along with it more.

Very nice Face, seems very interesting. This isn't the first Zelda themed SMW hack, but it'll probably be the only good one.
Wow, this mix between Zelda and Mario universes seems very well made! Mario wearing Link's clothes is a very funny idea. And the "Mushrule Kingdumb", rofl

Well, I don't think it will confuse the player. Just by seeing your first screenshot, I personally was able to approximately determine where the player can/can't walk, and the pic indicating where are the 3F tiles confirmed what I thought.

Sure, that's a good idea. I said previously that I propably wouldn't have any problem to grasp the idea, but I don't know how the others will feel with that.

Wait, will you actually DRAW graphics from Zelda games? I haven't any experiment with how to rip graphics, but I'm sure it's possible to rip tiles from ALTTP, etc... (if no one has already did it)

This is something ambitious, and I'm really excited to see how it will turn.
Heh, this looks pretty neat so far. I am a huge fan of the Zelda series so I'll be keeping an eye out on this. I like the way you're planning out the hitboxes too, as it will seem much more realistic. I don't think it will "confuse" the player too much if at all, although a few people might have to get used to it a bit. But overall it seems fine :)

Wow, you're damn talented. I'll keep an eye on this.
...but for the love of phantos, don't save as .jpg. .pngs are way better. Please.
Thanks, guys! =D
Good to see positive reactions.
Though, of course, even negative feedback is encouraged if anyone feels that I should change anything.

Well, I've been grabbing ALTTP graphics, tweeking them around in MS Paint/drawing new peices so that they fit into SMW, copying them into YY-CHR and transfering the numbers for the colours from Paint into LM's palette editor.

That reminds me, credit goes to Kakashi from Spriters-Resource for the ALTTP map graphics. S/he did the actual ripping from what I understand.

Oh derp. I kinda just hit "save" without even thinking it over. I should fix that.
And, Praise Phantos!

Oh hey, this looks pretty good! I've always wanted to see a 2D sidescrolling Zelda game (outside of Adventure of Link and a few dungeons in the Game Boy titles), and this seems like it could be just the thing.

And hey, we definitely need a better Zelda themed SMW hack. I mean, the last attempt we got was the absolutely godawful Link's Adventure (and a cancelled hack someone was working on in about 2011 odd). Hopefully this one will be the truly great Zelda themed Mario hack I've been waiting for.
For gaming news and Wario discussions, check out Gaming Reinvented and Wario Forums respectively.

As for Mario's Nightmare Quest? Well, it's currently on Fusion Gameworks, ROM Hacking.net or the GCN at the moment.
Will you be able to play like Link?
Hmm, this looks really interesting. I always thought the isometric viewpoint would look weird in an smw style of game. But I guess not. Cant wait to see more from this.

Ideally, I would really like it to if I could get the asm worked out. I'd also need to consider a knock back effect for when the sword hits enemies.

Perhaps, someone in #serioushax may help me through the process.

That's probably your best option, it'll be ironic if you find someone who loves LoZ.
Hehe, I still think this is a cool idea.

This ought to be interesting to see.
That was the best video ever! I hope you change more of the enemies to zelda enemeies and one of mario's frames was not changed. (The one where he kicks a object up into the air.)
I do not like so much the music, but okay #smw{:TUP:}

AMAZING! :O
It´s amazing !

I like the "pseudo 3D" style of your levels !
Every levels will have this style ?

Keep up the good work !

Hey, that's a good idea to replace chucks with these! I looking forward for some other interesting reskins. I know that the major thing concerned in this video is the Evil Green Knight, but about the music... Well, that's a mess #w{x(}
The SMB's music and Zelda's one have totally different melodies, so mixing them isn't the best thing to listen to. I know that the purpose of this hack is to mix the universes of Mario and Zelda, but you don't have to go that far with the music. I'm sure using some Zelda musics or musics that sounds like Zelda's ones is the right thing to do.

Tileset for Mushrule Castle

It looks pretty good, nice work here.
Just another attempt to give a more 3 dimensional effect to the first level, "Mushrule Field".

In case you have to ask; yeah, I'd totally just leave the cutoff like that in the final product. -.-

I need to make a new .bin file for "overlapping' land pieces, because I used up all of the space in the first one.

That's looking amazing so far. Great job, I'm looking forward to playing this.
Layout by LDA during C3.
Have you tried slightly rotating the perspective on those castle floor tiles, kinda like this?

It looks good on the grassy stuff, but the repeating floor tiles kinda look...strange to me.

Anyways, good luck and good job so far!
