Now that I've played a vast number of the entries (and judged them), I've started to settle down on some tracks we'll be needing. Here's a small list. If you're interested in composing something for the game, do so and post it here - thanks!

Note: custom samples are acceptable, but please try not to go too crazy with them.

A little tune I whipped up earlier for a fire submap. It's not finished and needs some refinement, so feedback would be appreciated.

Nice composition you got so far, Dr. Tapeworm! The drums really give off a fiery vibe to it, and also kinda tribal. I guess you sorta got inspiration from DKCR's Volcano level theme?

Also, I think you should keep it short too, because over 2 minutes is kinda ridiculous for a map theme. Other than that, keep it up!

I think I'll do at least the forest map. Also if you wanted to throw in a factory remix too, I would probably be interested.

Go for it. We have a lot of factory levels this year so I'm open to the idea of an industrial remix too.
I guess I commented DrTapeworm's over IRC. Really, really love it.

SNN: nice compo. I probably like it as much as I liked last year's cave map theme, but in a different way. This one's a lot more ambiance than rhythm, but it's still very good.

I think it sounds better with a more subdued lead samples, but I'd turn down the volume on the percussion a bit and raise the lead's volume even further. Otherwise, I like it.

I can't really judge the factory theme yet. I think it sounds a bit goofy with MIDI samples .. I'm certain it'll sound better in SMW.
I was working on an SMW Castle Remix and even though it's not the ones you're really looking for...do you mind if I still show you it after it's complete (once I finish some other things) to see if it could be used?

cave remix

if there's no complaints i'll start porting it.
I'm reminded of DK64 when I listen to that MP3. It's good, but it's also rather long... making me wonder if any of the cave levels are long enough for most players to hear the whole song (which is about two minutes long) before it loops?

Some progress on the factory theme. Still needs a great deal of work; feedback would help a lot.

Probably obvious, but the part that kicks in around :11 is awfully detuned. I'd focus on making the bell throughout a bit quieter (especially towards the beginning). It sounds pretty good from :40ish on though.
