As of about an hour ago, I've finished judging. I don't actually have the results ready yet (waiting on the two other judges), but I've managed to sort all of your levels into worlds. As of now, I can't say which eight will be in the "best" world, nor can I say which eight will be in the "worst" (though there are two obvious joke levels that will fill two of the spots). In the meantime, this is the set-up I've made for when we design the overworld in a couple of weeks. The grass world is the largest, but I can say with utmost certainly that at least four of those levels will end up in the worst world.

I'm on the forest world, but that probably makes sense since I made a forest woah

The size of the grass and forest worlds shows that many people went for simplicity with their levels, but I'm happy that we have whole new themes this time around, especially water.
I don't know if I'd be able to put some map thingy together that's good enough to make justice of the VLDC, but the themes seem pretty inspiring :3

I don't really have anything important to say, oh well

(Also I see Confirm SMW got disqualified for kaizo this time around)
Are they in a particular order? As in castle/fortress levels appear later?
I'd like to end each world with a castle this time (hence why I've done my best to put a castle level in each world this time .. or at least something that resembles one).

Ultimately, I'll let the overworld designer place down all of the tiles/paths, and then I'll try and determine the best order based on my own experiences. Ideally though, I'd like to order them by rank in each specific theme, yeah. We'll see.

There will be. It'll start once I know which levels are going in the worst/best worlds.

(technically, people could start designing it now since the themes/rough amount of levels are known, but it might just be worth waiting.)
Oh, sweet then.
Also, wow on the fast judging. I've pointed this out before but just for the lolz:

VLDC 8 -> ~86 full levels -> judged in ~1 week
25hc 7 -> ~67 big boo fights -> judged in ~6 weeks
... yay for effort I guess.

Also, should the map take into account the number of exits of a level?

Yes. This time, I have a list of all of the levels that have a secret exit, so I'm expecting that they'll be red dots instead of yellow.

We actually disqualified your entry. We're not Kaizo players, and we have no idea how to rank it or how it holds up compared to a "standard" vanilla level (which is literally every other entry in the contest). While it may be well-designed from a super hard/TAS-ish standpoint, not everybody is into that style of gameplay.

The alternative is to rank it but put it in the worst world again, and frankly, I think that's more of an insult to you than anything (considering you pretty clearly DID put more effort into making it than some of the other people there).

In all seriousness, I would like the alternative. It was my choice to be in this contest, and mine alone. (P.S. I don't know how putting it in the worst world would insult me, at all. I officially only published levels for the VLDCs...and frankly, I don't care what people think I am.)

Because different levels can have different qualities -- as one level of mine got (possibly) disqualified, while my VLDC7 level just got last place.

Then we'll rank it accordingly. As I said, it's a bit of a tricky case since I'm sure by some standards, it is well designed. For this contest, however, it's not what we're looking for and will likely end up at the bottom of the batch (and it also won't be required for completion .. but you knew that already).

You're literally losing face in front of every single person reading this, just because like 20 minutes of your work didn't end up in there.

Even if you hadn't been beat by others in the speed department, your palace has a grand total of 4 coins, doesn't fit vanilla SMW at all, both in graphics and room structure, has two places to EASILY get stuck in permanently, has some broken map16 tiles and a 1UP + feather that are literally impossible to reach and absolutely nothing else.
So, with that in mind, what are you even complaining about? It would've been rejected either way, and this time it'd be all your fault.

If I had completed my level, I would have been in the Forest World, because I put in a forest section at the beginning and end.

But anyways, I can't wait for the overworld contest! It'll surely make up for the loss of my level...

You already did (and covered it with Munchers), so I don't really need to.
I just wanted to point out some things in my submission so I made a pic showing some stuff. I hope this is an okay place to post this.



I noticed after the fact that I have one ledge corner tile which uses the wrong tile and so there is cutoff. It's an easy fix.

Also I have some water edge graphics which have very noticeable cutoff. This wasn't because I was lazy, but because I still don't know how to make custom tiles yet. So I am requesting that SNN or someone in charge if they could fix it so that it doesnt look bad.

One last thing. Right before I submitted my entry I changed the location on my sublevel of one of my noteblocks (the bottom one yellow circle) and moved it to the right one tile.

I now regret this decision and wish to move it back. So could my bottom noteblock be moved to the left one tile as is shown in my image.
