Hello SMW Central, welcome to the development thread for COLLAB 2, a project started by Neidave. You're probably wondering why I'm leading this instead, and that is because Neidave dropped out as leadership. That would've been the end of COLLAB 2 if I didn't ask him through PM to continue it, and he gave me his folder. So alright then, I guess that means we have to finish it then, right?! Well this project will only move forward if you, the viewer, decide to create a level for the collaboration.

This time, this sequel's setting will be Sky/Heaven themed, and a "Choconilla" styled hack, but some things will be changed so that the collab can be more limitless. I'm not going to put a level limit to this collab, so we can have more that 8 levels. Now for some things to know before you begin.

Rule & Important Information:
‣ This Collaboration will be running until July 3rd, 2016 to see how many levels we can get done during that period.
‣ Just because I said "Choconilla", that doesn't mean a completely different tileset isn't allowed. The graphics do have to be in SMW's style, however (ex. ex. ex.). Tileset mixing is also allowed.
‣ With the above said, you'll have to approve the graphics you want to use (SMWC or Self-made) to the thread first before you work on your level. If approved, you may start.
‣ You may not use any custom backgrounds; SMW has plenty of tiles to play around with. Any Layer 3 with "Super Mario World" in the title of the graphics are exceptions.
All levels have to at least have a Midway Point.
All levels have to have 5 Yoshi Coins.
All levels have to be around the difficulty of this level.
‣ Any graphics mentioned above are inserted in the ROM already.
‣ The levels have to at least implement a Sky theme in anyway, shape, or form. Any themes combined with this theme is allowed.
‣ You may only claim/create sprites that are either alternatives to SMW, or from SMB1-3. The Final/Only Boss is an exception.
‣ You may only claim one level at a time.
‣ You may not use sample music, only unsampled. If it is partially sampled, let me approve it first.
‣ If you do claim a level, you must show at least 1 screenshot in order to claim it, then a screen shot PUR WEEK. If you cannot meet the deadline due to a vacation or even an exam for school, PLEASE Private Message me to let me know.

‣ After completing your level, you must provide the IPS here for feedback. Repeat the process until I approve it.
‣ When the above is done, you must send me all the necessary files (ExGFX, Map16, Level Files, Music) via Private Message.

I know there are a lot of rules unlike the last thread, but most of these new rules are related to custom graphics, or to actually have progress done. I'm pretty sure everyone was following most of the new rules when participating in the last thread anyway, so there isn't a lot new except for the last rule (which if it isn't obvious, it's the most important!).

I am going to check out the base rom and probably get some creative juices flowing. Also how many levels are going to be in this Collab hack? Will it just be the amount that are created or is there a amount you have in mind? I will claim level 6 and page 6 of map 16.
I'm aiming for as many as the user-base can make. I'm not into limits in terms of length. If you want my honest opinion, it'd be cool to get 18 levels or more finished, which is double the last COLLAB. Basically the amount of levels the collaboration gets during 6 months will be the full game after the deadline, along with overworld designing and testing. Your claims have been added.

Also do you have any other restrictions in terms of music because I want to use the Moonsong from Cave Story and I am wondering if you would disallow it for some reason.
If the song is unsampled, it's fine. Do you want me to add that to the claiming list as well? I'm currently improving the baserom at the moment.

I put it in as Song 22, but you may use any slot you wish, since it isn't hard to switch songs.

Hey that looks really nice, although the lack of enemies are a little concerning. Then again, you just started, so I guess you're excused. Also you may use other people's Map16, you just can't modify theirs. I'm guessing that Mario is either behind one of the trees, or you disabled the sprite layer in your emulator.

Well I mean I changed the x and y position of the tiles on my map16 page. And yes, the sprite layer is disabled. Mario and the enemies are there.#ab{;)}
Would it be okay if I changed the background of another, more recent level I made that ended up not being used anywhere and replaced my pre-existing level? I'm not very fond of the old level as I made it back when I was still trying to figure out what good design is.
I think Nin killed Mario! Also are switch palaces going to be present in the hack? I am just wondering because I was thinking of putting in switch palace blocks.

Go ahead and send an update to your level. Your level is also in the new Baserom, so go ahead and use that instead.

It depends if someone wants to make switch palace levels or not. All four switch palaces are available to claim at the moment.

Alright, thanks... although I need to look at those graphics if it's for backgrounds.
E: Alright, checked. You kinda reminded me of the fact that some people need to use ExGFX to mix sprites.
