SM64 Ideas Thread

I think this would be a useful thread to make stickied, or if not you can just close it.Anyway, i was wondering MP3's in SM64 should become a thing.
Your layout has been removed.
probably not and MP3's are for losers anyway. Why would you want to insert a unfitting mp3 while you can have a better system, I mean it is possible to make perfect m64's

I wonder if it would be possible to port the ability for mario 64 to play sseq, swar, and sbnk files like DS games. Not only would they increase quality of the music, it would make them pretty easy to change the instruments and the actual songs. Plus if support was added all you would have to do to keep the original songs would be to port them from mario 64 DS

This is a very interesting post, It turns out Cronkers bad Fur day and probably a bunch of other N64 games actually uses super low MP3 files at like 8khz, mono, 0kpbs, which are all voice files so it's still understandable unlike Music would. I believe a lot of other games do this exact same thing. I remember writing about something like this on a different forums a years ago but it was entirely all speculation, but in the past few years playing around with the devkit I eventually got around to working on other games besides Zelda and Mario and had an idea to translate games voice audio thus figuring out how to rip the "mp3" files from Cronkers bad fur day.

I should mention the "mp3" files were not correctly ripped at all. I believe they always had cut off voice dialog or several different issues such as blank parts of audio. I remember there was actual inaudible segments, If I had documented and kept all of my work I probably would just go ahead and post how it all works and a tutorial on sound hacking.

But mario 64 already uses such a system, its m64. its the same as the ds alike, but with different files and such. The reason why m64's fail (I think) is because the file is a mess, and its hard to generate, atleast for me when I looked at the file.

You just need to create a proper midi to m64 converter, instead of ugly xml stuff.
make graphics with mario galaxy #ab{:P}into Super Mario 64!
i have this new idea that just might work a super mario 64 hack on the wii u with 8 mario's on 8 screens instead of 1 with 8 controllers so it would be an 8 player mod all i'd have to do is get a blank wii u disk for development and some how make the n64 rom or iso into a wii u rom or iso and and customize the disk channel different then last put it in the wii u and play it online for any number of players and in 8 player there would be no online mode just at your house with friends and make it work without homebrew#wario{:peace:}
Euhm.. how can I say that? That's now how it works.. Sorry
You can't get a blank CD first of all.. and if your project is actually to use Nintendo's propriety (being Mario), they will never give you a blank CD.

Secondly, injecting Roms into the WiiU is not even done yet! I'm not even sure if someone already ripped the SM64 WiiU Channel.

Next, how are you gonna work with this? I never saw a multi-screen console before beside the DS and now you're talking about 8 screens? That's a little too much.

This is not a hate comment btw, I even like the idea.
But I think that's not really possible to do without a lot of work.

Thanks for understanding. :)

That's not really feasible. Considering Nintendo wouldn't give blank CD's to anybody other than official developers for companies making games for the Wii U.

Homebrew would be a better option.
