Mario Catalysm - 4 Levels done!

Hello and welcome to my thread concerning my actual hack

Mario Catalysm

The title should originally mean Mario's Cataclysm, but I screwed up with the spelling and now the hack's name will stay Mario Catalysm.
I have started this hack in the early 2012, but cancelled it after a while. A year later, Mario Catalysm V.2 was born, and again, it was cancelled.

Then, in 2014, I finally decided to start Mario Catalysm V.3 and to keep the third try going. And now, after over one year of irregularly work,
I'm able to show you some screenshots. I hope you'll enjoy these and I'd love to read some suggestions!

What I did so far:
  • Nearly the whole planning script
  • A lot of Music Ports (check this out)
  • A high number of self-drawn Graphics (you can see some below)
  • A big part of the Overworld (see screens below)
  • 4 Levels

So, now have a look onto the Screenshots!:

Levels:

Level 1-1: Lotus Plains

Have you ever seen such a high lotus plant?

Level 1-3: Walking Athletics

Yep the sign is right... the player isn't able to do a single jump in this stage!

I know the mushroom looks crappy, I'm definitely going to draw a better one!

Level 4-2: Frozen Cave

Hm... what if I press the switch...?

The ice turns into water, nice!

Level 4-4: Blaaaargs!

Let's give the blarg a headache!

Hurry up, otherwise, your platform will be away!

Overworlds:

Main Overview so far:

Thanks for stopping by!
The grassland aestethics look really busy to me, but it's hardly a big deal and more of a personal preference. What I genuinely like are the cave graphics; stalactites, HDMA, lava, BG and layer 3 all work really well together. Spin jumping on blaargs looks for an interesting and difficult level as well.
Looks good so far. I like your graphics choices. The ice level feels like lacking enemies and coins, but that may be just me. Anyway, good work.
There's no such thing as the Special World now, it's the Juan World.

I second pretty much what everyone else said. I'm really liking how the OW looks, it's very high quality. I must say, I'm really liking the Special World...

Only thing I don't like are those coins. They just don't look right to me. They're not bad, by any means, but... I think they could be improved. They look a little too circular for me. And they seem a little big too. But, if you like them, then keep them.

A friend used to call me Juan, that's why I made that. #w{=D}

To be honest, I'm also not really satisfied with them. Going to change them soon! #w{=3}

First of all, thanks! Actually, the screenshots I made are just from a small sample passage to test out this gimmick.

Yeah I do agree, these were my first levels. Maybe I'll draw some own grass FG.
Loving the Juan World.

+1

I tried to design a nice OW Border, Graphics are from YI. I know
there are some Cutoffs in this border, but before I continue working on it, I thought it
would be good to have some opinions concerning this border! #w{=3}
The map design is nice, the border is also nice.
...yeah, not much else to say other than that. Oh well.
The roll parts on the sides have that really thick black YI-style cartoon outline, while the rest of the border has thinner black lines.
It doesn't look terrible at all, but I feel it could fit together better if you adjusted that a bit.
And maybe less repetitive patterns along the top and bottom.
Your layout has been removed.
How did you get the graphics to be HD?

Also I kind of agree with leod about the boarder, and the overworld seems to have neither beaches nor cliffs, which is kind of odd for any body of land.
