Story There is a land where Toads and piranha plants live side by side peacefully. This island is called "Peaceful Piranha Plant Paradise", and this is where our story takes place...
The legendary plumber, the royal princess and the great and awesome Toad go on vacation to this island, but the blissful adventure turns to a one of duty and obligation as heroes. The once docile piranha plants of the island are suddenly becoming malicious, and are populating in unexpected places. Mario and others must get the assistance of local plumber experts, as well as a local scientist, to find the source of the piranha plant uproar and to bring the once peaceful paradise back to a hip vacation spot. Who or what could be behind the sudden outburst of the island's piranha plant population?

I'm still working on three separate areas. Once I finish up to the final boss, I'll start contacting some of you if you want to beta test. But this will not happen until two weeks from now? This is after I do all my testing and stuff.

Maybe there should be custom enemies still like galoombas (goombas from SMW), thwomps, whomps, amps, ant troopers, banzai bills, beanie, bill blaster, normal koopas (red, yellow, blue, and green with different elements fire, water, poison, and thunder), blargg, bony bettles, boomerang bros, bullet bills, cataquacks, chargin' chuck, and dull bones if possible . Or they can be use in your other hack.

I've always wanted to see these in a hack! But for this hack, I'm going to put it off due to it not being apart of the story. Maybe for the other hack, but I'm not sure, it's a lot of work!
The Galoombas actually have a custom sprite made, as well as the normal koopas, both of which you can find on MFGG. Someone made a Bone Dragon sprite, which looks amazing and I would love to see that in a hack some day, though I think it'd require a lot of animation scripts to actually work if there are three on screen (if that many can fit!).

EDIT: All right! Got a lot of area tilemaps mapped out, and added a bunch of stuff that wasn't even planned for the final game! Woo!
Just a quick update, since it's the end of May/beginning of June. Things have been going well with this for the most part. Making this is a lot more time consuming than I thought! Cutscenes seem to be the worst offender. I've been making levels pretty consistently though, that's going well. Altogether, it's getting done, so I'm not too worried.
I'm almost done with all the levels, then once I connect all of them and make all the cutscenes, I'll start adding in the enemies and stuff.

Real life caught up to me and I got behind in my hack and hacking itself. Now to see where I left off...
I'm hoping that by posting back here I can get some motivation to finish this. For some reason I fell off the ship of motivation. Ah, but I'll find it again! And keep finding it if I have to!

Major update: I'm going to work on this, and finish it! And, I'm setting a deadline for real! There is a "Nintendo Fan Games Convention" that goes on every year, and I want to try to get a spot! The deadline for booth openings is August 23rd, that's 8 days from now. I'm all wired on coffee and I'm ready to hack this up and finish it! The convention starts in October, so before then once I'm done I'll have it all ready to playtest after the deadline. Stay tuned!
I realized two days ago that I won't be able to finish the whole thing by this upcoming Sunday... However, I can possibly finish a demo. Sorry I say one expectation then when the time comes I have nothing. I probably should keep my mouth shut when it comes to "expectations". >_< Expect something by next week. (I did it again!)
I made an account so I can say something about the hack.
So far it's really good. Some Notes.
1: I love the Flying Plants.
2: The Water Plants are a little Disappointing. I would recommend having them like fish and using Green Leafs as fins.
3: There needs to be hints for the Sewer Maze. Took me about 30 minutes to get 2 chests and the exit. That's not counting the fights(about 40 minutes).
4: How are the Plants suppose to react after I kill the stems? For the Boss it just ended, but for the Basic enemies sometimes they ended, sometimes the Bud part stayed.

2: I can see where you're coming from. The water piranha fish is a brilliant idea! I will definitely make a sprite and include it. Expect to be in the credits! (Is VyseOfLegends9001 OK to use as your username?)
3: I will make hints for the sewer maze. Not sure yet if I'll keep the maze format, but if I do I'll make hints. It is the first area after all!
4: This is a glitch I know about. If you defeat the stem with Toadstool, the Piranha Bud will stay until you hit it as Mario. This is due to the Piranha Bud's turn order being after Mario. I will try to find a way to make the boss disappear like Culex's crystals do if you beat Culex before the crystals.
Well, since this section is nearly dead, I may as well stop by here to see the current projects.
This hack looks alright so far. Also, I like the overworld map.
