Been wondering if there is any update/progress on this Hack.
Also I can't really tell that the Map looks like a Plant besides the stem. Though I don't really know how to look at it to see it.
As for the Water Fish Plant Credit thing, using my user name is fine.
I know that even for a small rom hack it could take a while, but I hope it gets done pretty soon or gets a file update.
Ah, yes, um... Not so much is done. I have stuff, but I would rather keep it hidden due to "spoiling" the hack... But some things aren't much of a secret if you've snooped around a little.
Uhh... It's SUPPOSE to look like a piranha plant..! Does this help?
Also I've put you down in my credits log as "VyseOfLegends9001".

Can't believe how good you are with hacking that game.
Oh, stop! You're flattering me. You're too nice!
It's really good to see you back. After I went AWOL for a month then came back, you disappeared, and honestly I got sad. Well, I'm glad to see you still had enough interest to come back here.
Little Update on the Game:
I just haven't worked on this much, and I do not have anything to show for this hack. I do intend to jump back on this soon (next month). Expect progress to be VERY slow.
Also, if anyone needs ANYTHING from me (sprites, music, even character animation files for LS, or just want to talk) do not be hesitant to PMing me. (Like, for example, you wanted Kamek or Yoshi in your hack... I can gather what I have done and send them to you.) My dream is to have SMRPG hacking become popular enough to be more than just a child forum! Even if it means having others take assets from me.
Hey everyone! I hope you're having good holidays and days in general, wherever you are. Here are some screen shots you guys can take a look at. (It feels like I'm really behind on stuff...)
The Resort Beach's Pipe House! I accidentally deleted the whole grassland tileset to make this. Whoops. ^^
The overworld. This is closer to finished. I plan for about 13 areas accessible via world map in the final game.
Really hope I push out another demo by January! I had to rearrange some stuff in the story, and I'm getting the feeling the work that I put in the demo last August won't make it in the final. I might have to cut the plumbers and the whole plumber segment, the restaurant, and the whole sewer maze. But the experience and ideas I got from making it won't make the effort be in vain! ^^
Thanks. Sadly when I try to restore the grassland tileset, the bottom third is a glitchy mess. I've been resorting to just restore each tile one by one just so I know it doesn't corrupt anything. >_<
I'm rewriting the story for the hack. It's got the same idea in it (Giant talking sentient piranha plants on a resort island) but now I'm planning having a history for the island, and other stuff like major story characters that'll join you and evolve during the story. I'm HOPING that writing the story first will make development easier and quicker, instead of doing it on the fly. I'm trying to keep the story simple yet interesting AND while keeping the charm and wackiness of my own Mario RPG, but it's hard...
My goal is for the game is for it to be fun for the player to discover the story themselves. To do this, I'm cutting the narrator Toad and choosing a more action oriented story, where the player will discover the story as events unfold within the game.
In the beginning of the game, the narrator won't give the viewer any information that reveals the plot at all. The viewer will be kept in the dark until characters within the game tell you what's going on. This is more "fun" in my eyes, it incites natural curiosity, which is what I want my players to use as their driving force during the full course of the game.
I made this intro quickly, but this is how I plan for the game to start out:
-The viewer hears ocean waves crashing in the background (The "Sea" from SMRPG), and the wooing of wind. Then text from the narrator appears:
I'm hoping that style like this of narration and mystery will have the player keep interested enough to explore the island till the game is finished. I won't know until the main portion of the game is written and done though. I just hope my head isn't too in the clouds with this one...
Nice screenshots so far keep it up. . I've been dreaming of seeing some pokemon as eemies here, but I wonder it's possible to do so, including their animations too.
Thanks. I don't know if there'll be any pokemon in this, as I haven't played any of the pokemon games before. If it is relevant at all, there will be some Kirby influence here and there. Also it might be cool to mention that darkkefka of SMRPG Armageddon has pokemon in his hack. Very recently he added a new one along with catchable pokemon! Just a heads up if you don't already know. ^^
Here are some maps I've made (seeing as I've made them awhile ago and thought other hackers might be interested what kind of maps I make). You can find the first two in the demo using LS. The last one is only in my build of the game.
Ah, I seem to have made a syntax error. When I said "Really hope I push out another demo by January!", I meant I hope to put one out by the END of January... I realize this makes no difference since I don't think anyone is keeping dates on this thing, but better correct it now before anyone wonders or gets sad or upset.
I made this sprite and posted it over on MFGG:
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro' the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse...
Except for the GIANT RAT THAT'S ATTACKING YOU!
Introducing a giant Rat Funk! He's meant to be intimidating. Just look at that bulk!
He's going to be the body guard for an even fatter rat, whose name is "Fat Rat". Fat Rat is the head of a group of thieves which'll be in the hack. You'll encounter them in the beginning parts of the game in Pacho Paradise, a rat town in the sewer.
