Tip: Unlike for traditional hacks and Kaizo: Beginner hacks, usage of tools such as savestates and rewinds in Tool-Assisted: Kaizo and Tool-Assisted: Pit hacks is encouraged, if not necessary.
I think the @6s should have a stronger staccato instead of sustaining so much. Otherwise, it sounds pretty good, I like the way you used @29 (at least the sample).
It sounds very good I don't know the original though, so I might recommend the strings having a slight vibrato or tremolo (or both?), and toggle echo OFF on the bass channel (at least one of them rofl), since I think that'll help the mood a little. Good work either way.
You know I actually got a good laugh reading that then playing back the spc. Should be a spoiler..... I'll make it one anyway
The drum line and part starting at 55s are probably the biggest offenders of your statement.
Looping seemed a bit weird but doesn't bother me. It's good you compose your own music but listening to that it's hard for me to envision you making any improvements [on the score.] Add panning if you want but that song more or less complete.
i suppose a better way to put it is that they are just absolutely inferior compared to the ones used in mother 3. they're really muffled and gross, especially compared to how well chrono trigger's music box samples
i got further and am much more certain i won't finish it now. string chords have always been a nightmare for me to manually transpose without access to disabling channels, so having to do about 20 seconds worth of nothing but several layers of string chords sounds like absolute torture i'm not willing to put myself through. at least what i got sounds decent
i'll get around to finishing that mother 3 port eventually once i eventually get the motivation to start transcribing the strings from the midi pinci gave me (thanks dude btw)
in the meantime i made another composition. it's another one of those cases where the loop is incredibly unsatisfying but i like how it came out otherwise
here's an ffiv port. i think it turned out decent, still not 100% sure i got the weird atmospheric pitch bend thing right but besides that im pretty proud of it
