So after 1 and a half weeks of almost non-stop work and some allnighters, I have finally managed to pull together the first ever full custom level for the WiiU game, New Super Mario Brothers U. So who needs Super Mario Maker?
This level includes
  • A whole new zone!
  • A completely new level with enemies, pipes
  • Some moving platforms
  • And much more!

Youtube video!

Although, there is no such thing as a first full custom level without some bugs. Some of these include:
  • 2 star coins, the 3rd one didn't work for some reason
  • A small tileset error
  • Some blocks spawn nothing (0 nybble on a ? block spawns nothing)
  • Another small tileset error, in the little tunnel with the background dirt

I would like to give a shoutout to RoadrunnerWMC, Marionumber1, NWPlayer123, and others for all their help to make this possible.
Fantastic work! There may be a future in Wii U hacking after all.
Thanks, but we still have a long way to go. :)
So, someone is making levels for NSMBU already? Great! I hope there will be more levels like that in the future, this really is a step forward for the ROM hacking community.
this is what mario maker is for, come on

All kidding aside, this is really nice. It's always warming to see another game that is starting to get hacked.

Jesus, that must've taken you a long time. But then I see it only took you more than a week? Round of applause to you, sir.

(I've gotten into the habit of giving a score out of ten for C3 projects.)

8/10
This is a great step forward in hacking a new game. Sure, it isn't without flaws, but, they're so minor, I can't knock it much. I'm looking forward to you attempting things like castles, or even bosses.

EDIT: This Paper Mario theme broke my layout. Damn it.

Thanks guys!
I already have something else in the works, so keep updated :)
Nice to see that NSMBU hacking gwtting into the scene. I like how this level looks. I hope NSMBU-hacking will rise with NSMBW hacking.
Even if it did have a lot of flaws it's still impressive that you're figuring out how NSMBU works, especially since you went through purely in hex. Nice work.

You, sir, won the C3. Especially if you only did this in hex, which is a fuckton of work. Impressive
Very impressive! Even more-so if it was only done by hex editing. I can't wait to see what else you have in store. #ab{:)}

This wasn't video of Mario dying a lot, so 0/10 for you mwahahaha!

However, the NSMBWiiU hacking is pretty awesome, so 10/10 on that.
Layout by LDA during C3.
The tilesets weren't hex edited. The zones, entrances, 75% of the sprites, and 100% of the nybbles were hex edited.
which is still 80% of it
Keep updated on RVLution.net for further NSMBU updates, and thank you all for your wondering comments. :)
