Best extremely long/"Epic" hacks?

I hate using the word epic, but in this context I mean "grand adventure" hacks. I'm talking things like Super Mario Infinity and SMI2, with insane level design and some incredibly sprawling maps and levels. It doesn't necessarily have to be hard, but I play at a just-pre-kaizo level, so hard can be good!

Any ideas?
The ones that come to mind (without naming any of my own, even if I did/do think that):
-Cool or Cruel
-Facedesk
-Item Abuse series
-VIP series
Honorable mentions:
-Abuse and Die series
-An SMWC Production
Legacy custom music

The somewhat obscure Japanese hack Luigi of Shadow might be pretty good for you. Extremely long (probably has over a hundred levels), with the levels themselves being often long on their own and the difficulty being moderate to high.

SMW YEAHHH too. Not the longest game ever, but it does offer five or six worlds of interesting ideas and content.
For gaming news and Wario discussions, check out Gaming Reinvented and Wario Forums respectively.

As for Mario's Nightmare Quest? Well, it's currently on Fusion Gameworks, ROM Hacking.net or the GCN at the moment.
This one has a pretty awesome non-linear overworld and some creative level design. It's definitely not on a pre-kaizo level like you say you are though so it may not be your cup of tea.

That hack picks up? I played the first level or 3 and could not get into it.
Your layout has been removed.
とっても YEAH! is not exactly long, but it does offer quite an interesting & exciting story.

Difficulty's optional - an extensive adventure is more of my taste, and this sounds right up my alley!

Things like cool or cruel, which are challenge hacks without an extensive adventure, and are straight up too short are not what I'm looking for. But I've got some good recommendations, and I'll look through them!

Oh, we were supposed to be recommending? I thought we were just naming hacks with long levels we like.
You know about this thread, right?

Woops, didn't expect the "Hack assistance" thread to also be a "Hack recommendation" thread.

Oh well, got some useful recommendations out of it :D
The Second Reality Project (original, NOT reloaded) would be appropriate for you. The difficulty is quite high, reaching almost kaizo at the final level.
don't click this link...
Luigi and the Island of Mystery - Not Pre-Kaizo but very long. Difficulty is medium to hard.

Super "Mario" World 2 - This one is awesome. My all time favorite. Last world is Very Hard.

The first hack that I got in mind is Skewer and antimatterhunter's Crater. It has 100 exits and it's a very epic one.
Try Mario's Amazing Adventure or Super Mario Universe 2.
Hyper V and VI are massive undertakings I've heard, even if you use savestates. Raocow and peteyboo's LP's of them are 60 and 90 videos.

You can only have up to 93 main levels in SMW (not counting #000 and #100)

Hyper Mari World 5 and 6 shouldn't be too hard if you use tools

Now toolless...

Super ASPE Mario is nice too, I've been playing it recently.
Starts out with VIP W4 difficulty in the first world.

The stages are also all very creative and fun.
Just prepare yourself for the difficulty.

I think it has like 6 Worlds?

93? You can have 96 if you use level 0, 95 if you don't, and 94 if you're keeping the original credits sequence (which uses level 104).

I'm working on a hack! Check it out here.
